At the airport today, waiting on the tarmac, I was looking at the very thin wings of the plane we were about to board and mentioned to my travelling companion about the fuel being in the wings. A woman standing in front of me in the queue said “oh, not THAT conspiracy theory! Do you believe in the Illuminati too? You’ll be saying the lizards are coming for us next! Is Milliband a lizard? Hahahaha!” I said “I don’t know. I suppose we’d have to peel off his mask and look.” She said “well, it’s true about fuel being stored in the wings though.” I looked at the wings. We were about 50 yards away from the plane. “But they’re so thin,” I observed. “You wouldn’t fit much fuel in them. And it’d weigh them down too much.” “It’s compressed,” the woman said confidently. Then she added “anyway, I’ve spoken to aviation experts about this and I’d believe them over you.” My travel companion said to me “why do you even care? I wouldn’t waste my time and energy thinking about stuff like that. I’m too busy worrying about whether my bum looks big in these sweat pants.” Sometimes I feel like I don’t belong in this world. ☹️
