This morning I'm finishing up a speech I'm giving to a group of Juniors at the local high tomorrow.
While I was out on my walk, I remembered a statistic I heard awhile back.
Kids hear an average of 32 positive words every day, but they hear an average of 436 negative words!
As parents and teachers, it's our job to work on ourselves and our language when speaking to children.
Too often kids are spoken to in a way that we would never speak to other people.
Unless we're on social media of course.
Work on that too.

@Millenihag I'm going my hand back sweetheart. It supports the point of the original post that prior to implementing the student loan program, college was affordable.
English

@dammitdavid_ Dave, I am gonna hold your hand when I say this: Nineteen hundred and ninety six. College educated kids with no debt still have to live at home in 2026. Gen X thought they had it bad …

Get the government out of the student loan business and colleges will have to charge affordable prices for tuition again.
Leading Report@LeadingReport
College tuition has risen 914% since 1983, according to CNBC.
English

@Millenihag @amitylee13 People could save money during the summer and pay for college tuition prior to student loans.
My best friend worked 2, sometimes 3 jobs during the summer, then went down to one job Friday to Sunday during the school year.
Went to a state school and walked away debt free in 1996.
English

@amitylee13 Oh? I thought the reason the government got involved to begin with was because banks were raping poor college students financially. I don’t like the current loan process, but it was even worse before this …

@ScottThompson_ It may have done poorly but as one of the biggest KITH fans, I was there opening night.

Happy 30th Anniversary to Brain Candy. In marriage it’s known as the Pearl Anniversary. Our movie did so badly it should be called the Fake Pearl Anniversary. I prefer the Pearl Necklace Anniversary because the sex is still good.

30 years ago, two different cult cable shows bombed on the big screen at the same time. I only caught KIDS IN THE HALL: BRAIN CANDY in theaters. MYSTERY SCIENCE 3000: THE MOVIE would have to wait. Anyway I wrote about both! decider.com/2026/04/22/kid…

@anthonybwilson @PeterCorbett1 It’s a Bowlero now, but I used to go there with my mom in the 70s.
English

@PeterCorbett1 I always seek out the ones that still have that old school look. Chris-Town lanes?
English

@PeterCorbett1 I learned at the bowling alley at Thunderbird and I 17. I think it was AMF.
My mom was in a league at what’s now the Bowlero by Christown in the 70s.

Yes.
We had one have a bad crash and broke his arm here Friday night.
They're all over, including the walking trails around our lakes.
People on the local Facebook pages are complaining about them darting in front of their cars.
I get it, I'd have been stoked to have one at their age.
I don't want to be the old man shaking his fist, but something does need done.

My bro in suburban Denver says there's an absolute "plague" of kids on e-bikes and e-dirtbikes bombing around the streets and neighborhoods at high speeds.
7-14 year old boys equipped with capabilities they're not mature enough to handle safely, drive like banshees through yards and intersections and golf courses etc.
I don't see too many of those here in small town TX and when I do they don't seem to be terrorizing anyone.
Curious if this is happening where you live or not. Is this a big deal?

@maxlugavere I never thought about using PBfit instead of peanut butter.
And frozen broccoli for convenience.
I will be trying this soon.
Looks amazing.
English

I could eat this every night.
1 Kevin’s Korean BBQ-Style Chicken (no affiliation)
Plus…
1 cup frozen broccoli
3 tbsp PBfit peanut butter powder
1 tsp fish sauce
2 tsp lime juice
Chilli flakes, sesame seeds, cilantro to taste
Kimchi on side
Radically healthy, tons of protein, and 10/10 flavor.

@wokemobfootball As a native Arizonan, I’ve always thought Scottsdale is overrated.
I think outside of Scottsdale, most AZ natives feel that way.
And Scottsdale has very few AZ natives.

How people from Scottsdale see Scottsdale vs. How everyone else sees Scottsdale

@wokemobfootball Just say you’ve never been to Scottsdale

@ChefGruel We don’t even get pizza delivered.
Our local pizzeria is so good when it’s fresh and crisp out of the oven.
30 minutes in a box ruins that.
English

Food delivery has killed brands. Too often I hear from people who speak poorly about a new spot, or a great restaurant, they tell me they got it via door dash or uber eats. It was cold, soggy, etc. then they never go visit again as opposed to eating fresh hot food on site. It’s a real risk doing delivery and it rarely pays off, that’s why most restaurant itemize it as a marketing expense.

@JoshLipnik @RLDodman They do guided tours as well.
I have a friend who’s a guide.
Did you get to see the theater?
They have movie nights and play classic movies once a month.
English

@RLDodman Yeah you have to pay but it’s a self-guided audio tour

@JeffAlbaPHX @rez_devil I came to make sure someone posted this.
