It really shouldn't matter, but I'm still troubled that McDavid was given the MVP of a tournament his team didn't win. And he wasn't very good in the gold medal game, I might add. Hellebuyck, meanwhile, was brilliant and the clear MVP of the tournament. Voting was completed after the first period. This is painfully stupid. Were the votes delivered to the Olympic Committee by the Pony Express or something? I have voted for the Conn Smythe winner numerous times and that vote is always required midway through the third period of any potentially clinching game. That, too, is ridiculous. It's 2026. We have cell phones. Wifi. Texting. Emailing. I don't see why votes can't be received and immediately tabulated when a game ends. Alright, I'm done. I just think the whole thing is stupid beyond comprehension.

On Friday, the Carney Liberals told the Trump admin they would not delay the Digital Services Tax for 30 days while trade negotiations proceeded. So Trump cancelled further trade talks. After 10pm Sunday night Ottawa time, the government announced the DST would be paused.

As recently as two days ago, the finance minister insisted the Digital Services Tax would proceed. Then the Prime Minister put his elbows down and cancelled the tax at the 11th hour. The tax is gone for good. In exchange, the Prime Minister should insist that the U.S. immediately rescind softwood lumber tariffs. We need to make gains for our workers in these talks. Canadians need certainty that Liberals will put Canada First and defend Canadian sovereignty in these negotiations. To stand up for Canada from a position of strength, the government must take emergency action to bolster Canada’s economy: Fully repeal the No-Pipelines Law, the industrial carbon tax, the tanker ban, the emissions cap, the EV mandate, and axe the capital gains tax on reinvestments in Canada. As always, Conservatives are ready to help get a good deal for Canada.

@PierrePoilievre The DST was always bogus, good it’s gone. Now here’s the deal, let’s do a tit for tat elimination of protectionist policies. We allow market access for American dairy, they allow access for Canadian softwood. It’s a win/win.
