My cousin arrives to Miami today after a month-long journey to the US from Cuba via Mexican border. I am so ecstatic!!!!!

On this day 78 years ago, 156,000 soldiers landed in Normandy to liberate France during WWII. Every year, French soldiers take sand from Omaha Beach and rub it onto the gravestones to give the letters a gold coloring. They do this for all 9,386 American soldiers buried there.

Yesterday, 14 years after starting Med School for the 1st time in Cuba, I became a physician. Thanks to my family, my friends and all my mentors. I will be always in debt to the USA, that has allowed me to build a life that would be impossible under the Cuban totalitarianism.
