Yesterday I spent over an hour carefully formulating a very honest and sincere post to a struggling vtuber in the community who I'd watched make repeated pleas for advice and career support for at least two or three months. My post immediately became the most liked by far out of all the comments. Then I went to bed, and woke up to this response and a deleted OP... sigh... [deep breath] This was a vtuber I watched and enjoyed the content from, and took pains to stress as much in my post. My post was entirely factual, and based on my own four years of experience in this industry as well as that of many others. Before posting it I asked several close friends and vtuber associates if what I was saying was accurate. All of them said yes. Several also told me I was wasting my time and that you can't help people who don't want to help themselves. But I persevered anyway, because I believe sincerely that vtubing ought to be a level playing field where the harsh realities of a highly competitive industry are made clear to everyone. This was my reward. When your sincere efforts to tell people how it is in this industry are met with calls of 'misogyny' and immediate blocks, what exactly is the point of even trying to help people improve? Am I supposed to simply ignore my lived experiences and the lived experiences of hundreds of other vtubers I've observed, plus the dozens I've spoken to extensively at this point? If I was a misogynist, I wouldn't watch vtubers. I wouldn't spend hours of my life trying (and often failing) to help them through their problems and issues. It costs me a lot of my time and energy, much to the continued upset of my friends who have told me my time would be much better served elsewhere. Women will continue being taken advantage of, chewed up and spat out by this industry if they refuse to acknowledge very basic, objective facts about both it, and their competitors. @really_pickled @SpeedSportLife 'Dongle' as a term is specifically used to add a functionality that the machine didnt previously have, like that dvi to usbc dongle you posted. You can still charge your laptop without the more compact power adapter, but you cant plug in a dvi monitor to it without that dongle.

@SpeedSportLife That buying more hardware, which isn't provided by the manufacturer, but should be, counts as a dongle.
