So you’re trying to pick a cloud storage provider (object storage like S3) to use with file.rocks? Here are my favorites and why I like them: @Cloudflare - $15/TB Integrated into Cloudflare platform if you already use it, good UX, no egress fees, but more $$ @wasabi_cloud - $7/TB Inexpensive, not hard to set up, but no public bucket option @backblaze - $6/TB Least expensive, but hot storage has felt slightly slower to me 🤷‍♂️ @awscloud - $23??/TB Expensive, bad UX, confusing pricing, high egress fees

@Bo80337023 @JustJake It has alot of comparable features from what I can tell, but DO Apps also allows you to deploy more than just static sites, you can also deploy container images

@JustJake wonder if cloudflare could've protected his website from that attack? but also yeah, coulda put the site on $5/mo DO instance and let it crash if you get attacked since its just a personal website

@dhh every time i look for new servers to deploy node.js to, i end up choosing heroku i want to git push and have it show up on the servers without much fuss heroku is awesome for that, digital ocean doesn't appear to do this out of the box digitalocean.com/community/tuto…

I love what Heroku has done for ease-of-deployment. Truly world class. But it blows my mind that a 512MB Dyno is still $25/month, 1GB is $50, and 2.5GB is $250!! Contrast these costs to a Kamal + Hetzner/Digital Ocean setup. It's literally up to 50x the price!!

It's a shame how the Indie Hacker community is 90% web. Mobile could be such a great platform to thrive as an Indie You get a top-tier platform for lead-gen, and the expectation for functionality delivered per app is relatively low So many fun hacks you can use, too

@dannypostma You should also consider DigitalOcean App Platform and DO Managed Databases. May be easier to keep it all in one place.

@mechanical_monk You can deploy a single DigitalOcean App Platform app with both the static site and the nodejs web service. The static site and backend can be deployed from similar or different repos, and will Auto-deploy when the code changes.

@danieldogeanu To deploy as a static site, you must edit the detected resource, and change the type from Web Service to Static Site.

Wasted a week to build a static site with NextJS only to find out that I can't deploy it to DigitalOcean's App Platform, because it doesn't detect the repo as static. It was supposed to build and export when deploying... 🤦‍♂️
