“Ethereum was not created to make finance efficient or apps convenient. It was created to set people free” This was an important - and controversial - line from the Trustless Manifesto ( trustlessness.eth.limo ), and it is worth revisiting it and better understanding what it means. “efficient” and “convenient” have the connotation of improving the average case, in situations where it’s already pretty good. Efficiency is about telling the world's best engineers to put their souls into reducing latency from 473 ms to 368ms, or increasing yields from 4.5% APY to 5.3% APY. Convenience is about people making one click instead of three, and reducing signup times from 1 min to 20 sec. These things can be good to do. But we must do them under the understanding that we will never be as good at this game as the Silicon Valley corporate players. And so the primary underlying game that Ethereum plays must be a different game. What is the game? Resilience. Resilience is the game where it’s not about 4.5% APY vs 5.3% APY - rather, it’s about minimizing the chance that you get -100% APY. Resilience is the game where if you become politically unpopular and get deplatformed, or if a the developers of your application go bankrupt or disappear, or if Cloudflare goes down, or if an internet cyberwar breaks out, your 2000ms latency continues to be 2000ms. Resilience is the game where anyone, anywhere in the world will be able to access the network and be a first-class participant. Resilience is sovereignty. Not sovereignty in the sense of lobbying to become a UN member state and shaking hands at Davos in two weeks, but sovereignty in the sense that people talk about "digital sovereignty" or "food sovereignty" - aggressively reducing your vulnerabilities to external dependencies that can be taken away from you on a whim. This is the sense in which the world computer can be sovereign, and in doing so make its users also sovereign. This baseline is what enables interdependence as equals, and not as vassals of corporate overlords thousands of kilometers away. This is the game that Ethereum is suited to win, and it delivers a type of value that, in our increasingly unstable world, a lot of people are going to need. The fundamental DNA of web2 consumer tech is not suited to resilience. The fundamental DNA of _finance_ often spends considerable effort on resilience, but it is a very partial form of resilience, good at solving for some types of risks but not others. Blockspace is abundant. Decentralized, permissionless and resilient blockspace is not. Ethereum must first and foremost be decentralized, permissionless and resilient block space - and then make that abundant.

Decentralization is not just a meme, it’s kindof the whole point. @ethereum

DAT 1.0 is out and DAT 2.0 is in. That was a major theme of CoinAlts 2025 in SF yesterday, where I joined @cosmo_jiang, @hyunsujung_, @chadblackburn, and @dfmerin for a panel on “Maximalist Treasury Strategies.” As crypto matures and integrates more with TradFi, passive buy-and-hold DATs need to adapt by becoming more active and incorporating operating businesses.

Last year, a number of VCs and crypto influencers were expressing “concern” over Ethereum’s cash flows. Alternate chains (whose cash flows are now collapsing and/or flowing to more centralized competitors) were extracting millions of dollars per day in memecoin MEV, acting like a Vegas casino on steroids. The premise underlying this critique was that ETH should be viewed and valued as a tech stock. Somehow, this same critique never applied to Bitcoin, which now only has $5B of economic security backing it (in contrast to ETH’s $160B of staked security). Of course, ETH isn’t a tech stock - it’s civilizational infrastructure for the 21st century. ETH is the censorship-resistant reserve asset of the Ethereum economy. And the Ethereum economy is blowing up, with complete dominance of the RWA space (witness the lackluster demand of xStocks on Solana) and billions of stablecoins entering it every week. Soon, there won’t even be a notion of an Ethereum economy - it will just be the world economy, powered by Ethereum. The ETH/BTC ratio is still near historic lows. Hop in before it’s too late.

Ethereum is the only blockchain in the whole world where you can borrow 1 billion dollars in an instant. No KYC. No paperwork. No scrutiny. Eventually nation states need to borrow trillions of dollars on ethereum. What will be $eth price then ? The ticker is ETH.

Honored for Squiggles to be included in the next batch of projects. Before I dive into my thoughts, please be thoughtful and careful in your participation in this project, as with anything in web3, there is a significant risk of things not working out as expected. While I've generally shied away from the financialization side of things like tokenization, lending and fractionalization, I've always acknowledged the inevitability of it. I think tokens are a maturing product, still in its infancy, however taking all of the learnings both from Adam's previous experiments and the last nearly decade in tracking and understanding the implications of tokenization as a whole, this feels like the next phase. Is it perfect? Far from it. But I do believe the future is fully on chain and tokenized in one way or another, and I'm excited to see such a thoughtful approach towards it. If @Rhynotic /@token_works did not launch this for Squiggles, someone else inevitably would. And as someone that's followed along with Adam's journey I feel it's fitting for his project to be the one to launch this for Squiggles. I see many parallels in Adam's madness with my journey in web3. I see a true passion for the tech, the medium of the blockchain itself, and unlike a lot of tokenization models he often brings NFTs into the projects as well. He participates in just about every art forward event I attend, and has demonstrated a keen holistic understanding of the overall ecosystem. This is rare and noteworthy. While I focus primarily on art related tools in the Ethereum tool chest, I appreciate his keen eye in bringing everything together. One more point is that unlike a lot of financialization of art in our space this project supports the creators. That's massive, and another indication of the maturation of both the token as a product and our ecosystem as a whole. I'm really excited about the portion that goes to me as a creator in that it allows me to permissionlessly support organizations that have supported me and the broader ecosystem as a whole. With my share, 1/3 will go to @SquiggleDAO to keep the flywheel spinning with purchases of additional Squiggles from the Squigster portfolio, 1/3 will go to @artblocks_io, and 1/3 will go to an @endaomentdotorg donor advised fund from which I will distribute donations to art institutions and organizations that have strongly supported both my work and mission as well as the overall digital art space as a whole.
