@Fremond_ I go back and forth on this a lot. I started working in tech when i was 14, but that was a result of tinkering with the web myself for years -- if the kid ended up here himself (no parental pressure) I think it's fine; kids can have lofty goals and make embarrassing posts!

Sometimes I walk around at night and read park bench plaques in areas I don't frequent. It entails peering into the loss, longing, or love of strangers; seeing the emotions they felt deep enough to immortalize in a public place. I appreciate them sharing their human experience.

@no__________end Perfect ending piece to a well written thread. The hypergambling in this industry has been around for years, and if you know what you're getting into it's a wild and enjoyable ride; it being deceptively pushed onto outsiders as "definitely not sports betting!" is vile to me

Here's the question that haunts me as someone who helped create this category: if you built a prediction market on deaths of despair conditional on Kalshi and Polymarket scaling sports betting without guardrails — what would it say? That's the kind of question these tools were actually designed to answer.

I co-founded Augur, the first decentralized prediction market, and was founding CSO of Gnosis, the second. Polymarket still runs on Gnosis contracts. I'm glad prediction markets finally broke through. But I'm not going to pretend that what's being scaled right now is what we built these systems to do.
