Am trying to work this out. 90 million Iranians desperate to be free of an oppressive terrorist State.. But no 'Free Iran' marches, no chants, placards, no demos outside Iranian Embassy. No screams for Ambassador to be kicked out. All but mutism ftom the left loonies. Although hilariously, Tehran Tadgh being accused of being a Zionist for saying something supportive about this new Iranian revolution. As for Connolly, any word? I'm not allowed see.

Brilliant and very restrained piece, which is about Ireland not Israel. Disheartening that it’s been met with vitriol
Rachel Moiselle@RachelMoiselle

Good morning, everyone. From yesterday’s Sunday Independent. Of any piece on antisemitism I have written, I put the most thought into this one, and I do hope you will do me the honour of reading it in full. The piece focuses on themes of identity, loyalty, betrayal, and with whom one’s fate belongs. As Irish Jews continue to be alienated in Irish society, I relay one plea from the Irish Jewish community: listen to us. ‘I think often of the quote by Polish communist Isaac Deutscher, who stated after The Holocaust that he had “long since abandoned my anti-Zionism, which was based on a confidence...in European society and civilisation, which that society and civilisation have not justified”. In refusing to listen and accept the concerns of its Jewish sons and daughters, Irish society has punctured the confidence that many of us had in this great nation and, indeed, has strengthened the case for Zionism. “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country” is a famous phrase by yet another esteemed son of Ireland. This is a value the Jewish community have lived by since their arrival here in the 1600s. It is not too much to ask for one thing in return: listen.’ I want to thank the Sunday Independent for asking me to write another piece. As the poll results included in my article illustrate, this is not a popular subject to write on in this county. In order for the Jewish community to be listened to, it first must be heard. A platform such as this is most appreciated.

The FDA made this assertion without releasing an iota of data to support it or uttering a word about risk-benefit. This is what science by press release looks like, a damning indictment of the ideological capture RFK Jr has enforced nytimes.com/2025/11/28/hea…

Rare joint statement from Met and GMP chiefs: those who chant "Globalise the Intifada" will be arrested. "Violent acts have taken place, the context has changed — words have meaning and consequence. We will act decisively and make arrests." @gardainfo thetimes.com/article/aa2ef5…

Deeply disturbing that President Connolly reportedly hosted Greta Thunberg who is visiting Ireland to speak at a Daniel Lambert/ Irish Sport for Palestine event scheduled to be held in Bohemians ground at Dalymount Park. Irish Sport for Palestine advocates the elimination of the State of Israel & the denaming of Herzog Park. . In the immediate aftermath of the Bondi Beach massacre Thunberg called for an escalation of the anti Israel campaign & said nothing about those slaughtered & injured on Bondi Beach. The lack of sincerity of the President’s condolences & condemnation of the Bondi atrocity is sadly now starkly illustrated . Yet again Ireland’s international reputation is destined to be sullied.

I am very proud to have been one of the very few columnists in Ireland highlighting the growing sense of isolation our tiny Jewish community has felt over the past two years, especially when so many commentators and politicians were adding to that sense.

Today marks the third anniversary of the death of Irish soldier, Pte Seán Rooney , who was murdered by Hezbollah in Lebanon. We should keep him in our thoughts and prayers, and we must never accept musicians, bands, politicians, or other protesters using the Hezbollah flag in anti-Israel protests as a sign of support for Hezbollah, just because Hezbollah is also an enemy of Israel. When you think of Hezbollah you should think of them with disgust, not admiration

The hypocrisy is breathtaking. Remember Orli Degani, the SD selected candidate to stand in Dun Laoire local elections in 2024. Because she privately expressed concern about the impact of your party’s toxic rhetoric on the Jewish community & it contributing to escalating antisemitism she was deselected. At all times it was known she is a member of the community. Her deselection was a blatant act of antisemitism. Her legitimate concerns were weaponised against her & have been entirely ignored.

I am horrified by the antisemitic massacre on Bondi beach. Jewish people gathering to celebrate their faith were mercilessly gunned down. Antisemitism must be stamped out in all its forms.

Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan spoke superbly last night. In addition to calling for the Herzog Park name to be retained, he also said the Irish Jewish community was cherished and that an Ireland without its Jewish community would be an Ireland he didn’t want to live in. Some might say they were just words, but they were the perfect ones at a delicate moment after the Bondi Beach tragedy and they meant something to those in attendance last night. I spoke to many people afterwards who were pleasantly surprised and impressed.

I’m not Jewish, I’m in the UK, but used to live in Israel, and 7/10 affected me badly. I had around 650 Facebook friends, I’ve been speaking out in support of Israel and the Jewish community since then, and have lost around 50 FB ‘friends’ as a result. I also wear a Magen David and until the hostages’ release, a yellow ribbon pin, have the Israeli flag in my social media and have attended several pro Israel and Jewish events in London. All of which has exposed me to the antisemitism that has exploded since that terrible day. What’s shocked me most has been the vocal support of Hamas and the sheer numbers attending the hate rallies worldwide, as well as the total silence from the majority of populations across the western world. This needs to change if we want to fight this evil.

Beautiful & heartwarming to see our Jewish community & friends coming together this evening in Dublin's Herzog Park to light the 2nd #Hanukkah candle. "Hanukkah is about lighting the light and sharing that light with the people around us." - Rabbi Wieder. rte.ie/news/2025/1215…
