I am a big fan of MindShift, a podcast about the future of learning. I think it will be a great resource for me to stay informed, join in on discussions, and discover new ideas about social and emotional learning in the future. #educw200 @educguo30

@bethhill2829 I agree! Too often, there is so much stress on assessment, but we should be encouraging student creativity and expression above all. #formulativechat

A3: Help kids learn about themselves so they know how to use their talents to express new learning and apply it to various situations. Too often we tend to mimic assessments to match the required state testing. We should be going way beyond that. #formativechat

Q3: Fostering intrinsic motivation drives learning. In what ways can students showcase their learning in authentic ways that feel meaningful to them? #formativeChat #LEAPeffect

R3: The classroom should be an environment that enhances student learning beyond tests and assessment. We should encourage students to showcase their learning in ways that allow them to be creative and interactive with their peers #formulativechat

A2: Authentic Assessments can occur with: * GoFormative * Flipgrid * Quizziz * Jamboard * Screencastify … to name a few. I have been playing with the idea of making an assessment for each application that is assessing the same thing to see the differences… #formativechat

R2: I am a firm believer that tests are not the best ways to test students' learning. We need STRESS FREE assessments - like production tasks - that allow students to demonstrate their knowledge in fun, engaging ways. #formulativechat

@vendi55 I agree completely! Encouraging students to learn from their mistakes and stay motivated rather than getting easily discouraged is extremely important in developing problem-solving skills. #formativechat

A1-Trying to focus more on the process including an emphasis on #formativeassessment Celebrating and learning from mistakes. Use PBL and try to differentiate instruction. Enjoy being the guide along for the ride #formativechat

Q1: If we truly value critical thinking, creative problem solving, communication, and collaboration, we should be teaching and assessing those outcomes. How are you creating opportunities to develop these skills in students? #formativeChat #LEAPeffect

R1: Developing critical thinking skills and problem solving in our a students is essential. To do this, we should seek to offer richer lessons and encourage deeper exploration. I think role-playing exercises can be a great way to teach critical thinking #formativechat

A2: One great technology resource I've found so far is Nearpod. It allows you to integrate open ended questions, quizzes, polls, etc, and I think it would really enhance lessons by making them more engaging and interactive for students. #educW200chat

R1: I definitely think it's important to integrate technology into the classroom because our world uses technology everyday and it is important to understand the new tools that are created. It also makes things more fun, engaging, efficient, and overall, better #educw200chat

Our group might not have won the #w200 Marshmallow Tower Competition, but we definitely got creative. We had a lot of fun using PBL in the classroom! @educguo30

Today, our group used @littleBits to build a guitar. We were intimidated at first, but with step by step instructions, it was pretty easy. Here’s our attempt at playing Mary Had a Little Lamb. #educw200 @educguo30

Our group created a game called “Catch the Catfish” to help teach students the importance of being smart, responsible digital citizens. The game includes three roles - the catfish, safe internet users, and unsafe internet users #educw200 @educguo30

I watched the Do Not Track episode "The Daily Me." Nowadays, so many people use social networks as their main news source (30% use Facebook), and the video made me realize that this information is largely influenced by the people we follow. #educw200 @educguo30

I think the break out activity was a great way to get us thinking about digital citizenship and internet safety in an engaging and exciting way. Our group had a lot of fun solving the mystery while also learning about how to spot a phish. #educw200 @educguo30

I have had some experience using iMovie, so it was pretty easy to navigate. I think it would be a great tool for my future students to use to make projects such as book trailers or short films. #educw200 @educguo30
