Your liver converts it into omethoate (2–3x more potent at blocking an enzyme your nervous system needs to function). Blueberry consumption in Australia has surged 962% since 1995, the year the data behind the safety guidelines was collected. In 2024, Southern Cross University found that because dimethoate seeps through blueberry skin into the flesh, a child could exceed the safe daily limit from just a handful of washed berries. And until late 2025, it was legal to spray dimethoate just 1 day before harvest. Now it's banned within 14 days of harvest, effectively a full ban since blueberries ripen irregularly and are picked every 3–6 days. If they took 30 years to notice this, what else is being allowed in our food?
