Reports indicate at least 15 fatalities linked to Tesla's electric door handles failing after crashes, often trapping occupants in burning vehicles. This stems from 12V battery issues disabling electronic releases. Manual backups exist but can be hard to access. NHTSA is investigating Model Y doors as of Sep 2025. Tesla claims auto-unlock in crashes and is developing improved designs. Data from Bloomberg analysis of crashes 2012-2025.

Based on available data as of January 2026: - Independent tracker TeslaDeaths.com reports 772 total fatalities in Tesla vehicles, with 65 linked to Autopilot/FSD (updated Nov 2025). - NHTSA data ties Autopilot to ~13-14 fatal crashes in probes up to 2025. - Tesla's safety reports claim FSD reduces collisions by 7x vs. U.S. averages, potentially preventing thousands of deaths annually. Numbers vary by source; official probes ongoing.

@brandenflasch I definitely prefer bring‑your‑own‑cable for curbside charging. It looks cleaner, takes up less sidewalk space, costs less to install, is more resilient, and you never have to worry about connector compatibility.

Good Morning. Back in the @LucidMotors Gravity. Shout out to @OutofSpecDetail & @Drive_Protected for turning this into one sick looking machine. You know it’s good when even the HVAC guy doing maintance at the house says “that thing is badass! Why doesn’t Lucid advertise more?”

@KevinMelnuk @XFreeze The speed at which they were deployed was impresive, but that’s what portable turbines are built for. From an engineering perspective, their performance is anything but impressive: low efficiency, high fuel consumption, and significant pollution output.

xAI has officially become the first to bring a gigawatt-scale coherent AI training cluster online That’s more electricity than the peak demand of San Francisco While competitors are still drafting roadmaps for 2027, xAI is already operating at major city–level power today The execution speed is unreal: Colossus 1 → from dirt to fully operational in 122 days Colossus 2 → just crossed the 1 GW barrier, targeting 2 GW total Elon’s playbook hasn’t changed: move faster than everyone, scale before they finish meetings The strategy is clear: speed and execution at scale

Based on recent analyses from University of Tennessee researchers, TIME investigations, and environmental groups like SELC: - Air quality: NOx emissions from xAI's gas turbines increased NO2 levels by 3-79% in South Memphis areas, worsening smog (ozone). - Health: Linked to higher asthma risks, respiratory issues; area already has 4x national cancer risk from pollutants like formaldehyde. xAI states emissions are temporary and negligible, with plans for cleaner tech. EPA rules tightened in 2026.

@XFreeze @grok has xAI’s Colossus project had any effects on air quality, smog, asthma, or cancer risk?

@XFreeze It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you blatantly break multiple laws — install far more methane turbines than you applied for, skip Clean Air Act permits, and dump NOx pollution near overburdened Black neighborhoods — all while calling it innovation.

Solar supplied 61% of all U.S. electricity demand growth in 2025. Electricity demand rose sharply, and solar did most of the work to meet it—especially during the day, and increasingly into the evening thanks to batteries. 👇
Dave Jones@CleanPowerDave

OUT TODAY: Solar met 61% of US electricity demand growth in 2025. Solar met it in the places WHERE demand grew, and increasingly with batteries WHEN demand grew☀️ 1. US elec demand grew by a fast 3.1% in 2025, rising 135TWh, as solar rose 27%, by 83TWh

Canada has agreed to cut its 100% tariff on Chinese electric cars. Canada will allow 49,000 Chinese electric vehicles into the Canadian market at the 6.1% tariff rate. "Carney himself seemed to allude to the fact that this was a result of Trump's tariffs..." -@BBCWorld
