@JonnyRoot_ I don’t like the some of the castings… But doomed? It’s not gonna make what it would’ve made, some people will skip it understandably, but it will be profitable and probably win awards. That’s not doomed. There’s also zero evidence that it is based on Emily Wilson’s book.

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey movie was doomed from the start... It’s rumored that the screenplay is based on a woke, feminist retelling of the story by Emily Wilson* 1. The language is dumbed down (modernized) 2. It downplays masculinity & male hierarchy. 3. It shames violence/war 4. Odysseus is emasculated & less of an inspirational hero. He’s more “complicated” (vulnerable, arrogant, manipulative) 5. Woman are made more prominent & impactful at the expense of male characters. This retelling infuses modern, liberal ideology into the story, turning the epic into political propaganda. This movie will no doubt have elements of identity politics throughout. *Nolan has mentioned Wilson’s version in interviews.

A standing frame? That is a super kind offer unfortunately there is no room in our house to put one. The other issue is that it takes two people to get me in it unfortunately I’m alone most of the day and don’t have anybody available to put me in it otherwise it would be a fantastic way for the body to heal. Thank you for thinking of me and for this kind offer. I know how much they cost so it means a lot.

This is a frame holding me up because I haven’t been able to stand in 4 years after becoming paralyzed from the chest down by my covid shot. It builds bone mass so my hips don’t dislocate and my legs don’t become brittle. Cost me $350 per week to get treatment. I put in the hard work but I can’t do it without donations. Please help by donating and sharing. opkayla.ca/donate

@FoodProfessor How can he secure a deal with the likes of that US president? Should he secure a bad deal or no deal? He fights harder than anyone for Canadians right now given the turmoil the world has been thrown into thanks to you know who. Perhaps US wants the other party in gov't right now?

Prime Minister Carney’s message today was largely expected. The warning signs have been there for months, especially as he increased his international travel. We’ve also reached this point because he has not delivered on his key promise to secure a deal with the United States—a commitment that was both economically important and politically central. In that context, suggesting that the United States is no longer an ally is, quite frankly, hard to believe. What we’re now seeing is a clear weakening of CUSMA as a reliable trade framework. The possibility of a direct deal between the United States and Mexico—leaving Canada on the sidelines—is no longer far-fetched. That would be a major shift for how trade works in North America. For the agri-food sector, the risks are real. About 75% of Canada’s agri-food exports go to the United States. That has worked well for years, but it also means we are highly exposed. Diversifying sounds good in theory, but in practice it takes time, money, and new infrastructure. In the meantime, farmers, processors, and distributors would feel the pressure through tighter margins. In food, geography matters. You can’t move farmland. What we produce has to be shipped, and the farther the customer, the higher the cost. That makes us less competitive. On logistics and supply chains, Canada still trails several G20 countries. PM Carney's use of “forward guidance” is really about preparing Canadians for what’s ahead, and perhaps shifting blame. But make no mistake, Canada’s position is weakening. This isn’t really about opinions—it’s about reality. The real test will be how Canadian households, especially the middle class, handle the pressure. The adjustment is coming. The only question is who will bear the cost.

This analysis is absolutley SPOT ON. But, as always, while I'm VERY excited for DOOMSDAY, and have been since last November (for very good...reasons), the proof is always in the final product. Again, for me at least, they HYPE is READ. I've adored all four AVENGERS films...
Aakash Gupta@aakashgupta

Disney paid roughly $200 million just for Robert Downey Jr. and the Russo Brothers to come back. That's before a single frame of film was shot. Before sets, VFX, marketing, craft services, anything. The test screening results suggest that $200M bet is about to pay off at somewhere between 10x and 25x. Here's why this leak matters more than the usual hype cycle. This is a pre-reshoots cut. The version that tested at Infinity War levels is the version before they add more characters, more cameos, more fan-service scenes. Reshoots on a film testing this well are additive, not corrective. That's a completely different production posture than what Marvel has been doing for the last five years. The Russos' last two Avengers films did $4.85 billion combined. Infinity War alone cleared $2.05B. Endgame hit $2.8B. The entire Multiverse Saga since then has been a slow bleed of audience trust. Quantumania did $476M on a $200M budget. The Marvels did $206M. Eternals, $402M. Marvel was losing casual viewers at a rate that made the franchise look terminal. The Downey/Russo reunion was always the play of last resort. Downey literally refused to return unless the Russos directed. His deal includes private jets, a security detail, and a trailer compound. The Russos got $80M with escalators at $750M and $1B box office thresholds, plus their AGBO banner gets a producer credit, which is a first for Marvel. And now the thing is testing like Infinity War before reshoots even happen. If Doomsday clears $2B in December 2026, it validates something very specific: Marvel's problem was never the audience. The audience was always there. The problem was that Phase 4 and 5 shipped B-tier directors and C-tier scripts on A-tier IP. The fix wasn't reinventing the formula. The fix was paying for the best people and getting out of their way. The Russos' performance escalators kick in at $750M and $1B. If this thing does Infinity War numbers, those escalators trigger so fast Disney's finance team won't finish the wire transfer before the second weekend.

Here's what Marilyn Gladu says she thinks of Mark Carney: She says Carney is responsible for the economic mess that we're in, has terrible judgement, and can't be trusted at all. And yet just today, she crossed the floor to the Liberals. You can't even make this up..

Someone could go to school for 4 years and study aerospace engineering, then get a PhD with a dissertation related to orbital mechanics, and some instagram influencer who watched a youtube video will be like "actually that guy is wrong" on a topic related to space travel and people will believe them. I'm not sure how we got here, but I hope we go back to a society where credibility is earned with rigorous training in the associated field, not by a popularity contest.

Star Trek exists in more than one world. It exists in the fantasy of science fiction - weird and wonderful things that play unimaginable possibilities of exploration and human endeavor. But it also exists in the fantasy of human beings, the perfection of human beings, the exploration that human beings have made since the dawn of time and the continuing exploration - physically mentally and morally. It’s that aspect of Star Trek that I’ve always loved, to look at something physically that doesn’t exist now by these talented writers & designers but also to tackle the eternal human questions the agonies, the ecstasies. Star Trek should exist for a long time to come based on those truths. I for one would love to see its continuity. It’s with sorrow that I hear about the cancellation of the new Star Trek series.

And when the Next Gen came out; there was tons of hate because it “wasn’t Star Trek” and the cast probably was in fear from the fans. Again when the series with Bakula came out, it too was panned by the fans because it “wasn’t Star Trek.” Star Trek is different for everyone. 🤷🏼

Cut to…you on opening night, screaming “Best Spider-Man Ever!”
Byl Holte@SirBylHolte

How I know "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" will be a gigantic piece of shit: Trailer begins with him alone on a girder looking at his friends on his phone: BORING. Then, voiceover tells someone that they won't remember him because of what happened at the end of the last movie: SUPERHERO ERASURE. Then, random DARKY LIT shots of people: DEPRESSING. Then, Spider-Man swings into action - and hits a car and lands in the street: FAILURE Spider-Man gets hit by a van driven by The Punisher: MORE FAILURE. They banter, they battle: HEROES FIGHTING HEROES AGAIN. Shots of random people at a party while Ned voiceovers, "sometimes Spider-Man has to do the hard thing even if it breaks Peter Parker's heart": MORE FEELINGS CRAP! Peter fainting saying "what is happening to me": WEAKNESS. Peter somehow trapped in his own web, then falling out of it: WEAK, HELPLESS, NOT IN CONTROL. Peter in a glass box being scanned: LOSS OF FREEDOM. Peter going to ULTRA TDS SUFFERER MARK RUFFALO/BRUCE BANNER for help: SPEAKS FOR ITSELF. A drop of water falling into a barrel: NO IDEA WHY. Peter holding his head like he's in pain: MORE WEAKNESS. Peter being thrown by his web into a water tower: MORE FAILURE. Peter visiting May's grave: MORE FEELINGS CRAP! Peter tied to a chair, wrists restrained: MORE FAILURE and LOSS OF FREEDOM IMAGERY. Peter getting knocked around by Scorpion: MORE FAILURE. Peter facing MJ on a very dark rooftop: WHO CARES? Peter trying to stop a tank but gets thrown into a bus window instead: MORE FAILURE. And a slo-mo scene of Spider-Man about to battle a bunch of red ninjas... ...BUT NOT ONE KICKASS "GO HERO" MOMENT IN THE WHOLE 2:40 TRAILER! Look, I've gotten pretty good at dissecting these deconstructionist hero movies. This is basically Spider-Man written by people who think superheroes are STUPID. Mournful, darkly lit, unhopeful, NEVER see the hero in TRIUMPH or being HAPPY. I get the same feeling from this trailer as I did from "James Gunn's Superman," "Lanterns," and the last 10 MCU movies: NOTHING I WOULD EVER PAY TO SEE. We all knew this was coming. Hollywood wants to make the superhero genre disappear. This is just the latest ruination.

There is not a single land animal that can run further than a human. We are the best at long distance endurance and it’s not even close. Horses, lions, dogs, emus, hyenas, cheetahs NOTHING can out run a human. We are literally built to ENDURE. Everything else goes against out nature. Power lifting is not in out nature, gorillas will always beat us. Speed? Lmao we are slow as fuck, 90% of animals can catch us. But endurance? Pure endurance? Not a single land animal can beat humans. If you think benching a lot is good you are severely mistaken. It’s an embarrassing endeavor. Nothing in life requires you to have gorilla strength. Endurance? EVERYTHING requires endurance. Ultra marathons are peak human athleticism. Peak spiritual and emotional testing grounds. No one cares if you can curl 30kg, bench 100kg, squat or clean jerk weight. But if you can cover 250km in 3 days THATS impressive. Resisting who you really are is fake and gay. Ascension is accepting what you actually are and doubling down on that Start running fgt
