Flying home today. My checked bag was 50.5lbs. They made me take stuff out so that it was under 50lbs. I boarded and sitting in the row opposite me is a woman who weighs about 300 lbs. Why do I have to watch my bags weight limit but someone spilling into the seat doesn’t?

@SRuhle So a poorly run company going under due to sector headwinds is how economics usually works, Steph. Usually they’ll try to sell themselves to somebody else before the shit hits the fan to avoid straight up bankruptcy, which Spirit tried to do but… well, you know the rest I assume

Spirit danced with bankruptcy & was plagued by management issues for quite some time. Then - this unprofitable organization- with almost no cushion got hit with soaring jet fuel costs. That is the story.

Pour one out for the Spirit flight attendants today. When an airline goes under, they lose their seniority which when you're an FA is your entire career. If they want to go to a new airline, they have to start at the very bottom.

Spirit Airlines shut down its operation overnight. Spirit pilots will remain in the CASS system until 2300 tonight (2MAY). Please make the walk and offer any Spirit pilot needing a ride the jumpseat so they can get home. Thanks for helping our fellow @ALPAPilots during this difficult time.

@groundshy Not sure. But we did hire the majority of the Aloha Airlines pilots. I hope our new sugar daddy does the same for the Spirit pilots.

We are offering all Spirit Pilots and Flight Attendants the ability to Jumpseat (cabin only) for the next 2 weeks. Spirit Crew ID and 2 forms of Gvt ID will be required.
