campus protestors, who i believe were the most evil people since adolf hitler, are hypocrticial for stopping their protests, something i repeatedly asked them to do

@toofaroutmann @attheimax For such a deeply held belief they were willing to put Trump in office over it (Gaza), the dirtbag left has abandoned principles rather quickly? And the defense is “we don’t have a receptive audience in the WH”. Contrast that w/other protest movements . All I was getting at.

it is of course very simple: there were campus protests under biden because people hoped they had a receptive audience in power and there are none now because they know they don’t; now, thing is, the first part turned out to be incorrect

@hcs862 @attheimax yes they did, they were incredibly smart political operatives and this eventually led to the era/vra and the southern split

@Nickbristol7 @attheimax Yes and it worked out great for them and the DNC and the Democratic ticket in ‘68 didn’t it? Roughly analogous to 2024…thanks for making my point though

@hcs862 @attheimax Yes the kids in the 60s protested the 1968 democratic convention but not the republican one for exactly this reason.

@JJalapino @attheimax So this has become circular. Which party do you think was and is better on this issue? Not a tough question.

@hcs862 @attheimax “Fighting imperialism” by funding a genocide enacted by a settler colonial state against the indigenous population and actively brutalizing students protesting said genocide.

@hcs862 @attheimax Rosa Parks & the lunch counter students were not just protesting there were specific laws and practices they wanted changed..they broke the rules/law to highlight how unjust the laws were and had an organized group of people backing them up ( at least w/ Parks)

@FaekBot @HELLLLHOOOOLE @attheimax Not at all. Modern-day leftists appealed “directly” to POTUS by threatening to (and ultimately withholding) coalition votes in a self-destructive way. The point that all protest has an end generic goal of “change” is hardly revolutionary & not what I was getting at, at all!

@wokequin @HELLLLHOOOOLE @attheimax He didn’t get my point that modern-day leftists appealed “directly” to the Prez by threatening to (and ultimately withholding) coalition votes in a self-destructive way. His point that all protest has an end goal of change is hardly revolutionary & not what I was getting at

@hcs862 @HELLLLHOOOOLE @attheimax He did discuss it in good faith, you were clearly outclassed intellectually, and your response to being corrected publically is “go fuck yourself”? You’re wrong and you’re an asshole lmao

@LikeAPhoenician @attheimax You tried to hold the entire Democratic Party hostage over one issue, carried through on your threat, and are now trying to disavow the consequences. Own it…you wanted this, you got it. In other words fuck you

@HELLLLHOOOOLE @attheimax Civil Rights movement was about principles and changing minds and hearts. Ofc all of that flows into lawmaking, etc, otherwise what’s the point? W/r/t Gaza & dirtbag left, their abandonment of any activism during Trump admin shows their lack of principles, heart and conviction.

@hcs862 @attheimax the history of the civil rights movement is a history of activism pressuring the state to act, particularly against segregation. this *was* why many activists protested, and it worked. you might be critical of that possibility now but you should at least understand what happened

A deeply divided American public has reached a new level of polarisation — for the first time in the last century a war has been fought with a majority of the public against it from start to finish. #TheTimes thetimes.com/comment/column…

@attheimax And to follow up, do you think the Dems have people’s backs by fighting for a minimum wage hike, healthcare, SNAP benefits, Medicare and Medicaid benefits, fighting ICE, fighting imperialism in starting wars, and on. Cause I do. I guess you prefer Trump you asshole

one of the results of this is the vague but broad protest movement we still do have, which, while it remains mostly unspoken, is premised on the suspicion that dems really don’t have anyone’s back on the “other side” of this

Noel Gallagher about Nirvana "I remember Nirvana had a tune called "I Hate Myself and I Want to Die," and I was like 'Well, I'm not fucking having that, I can't have people like Kurt Cobain coming over here, on smack, fucking saying that they hate themselves and they wanna die" That's fucking rubbish, kids don't need to be hearing that nonsense, seems to me that there was a guy who had everything, and was miserable about it And we had fuck-all, and I still thought that getting up in the morning was the greatest fuckin’ thing ever, ’cause you didn’t know where you’d end up at night. And we didn’t have a pot to piss in, but it was fucking great, man”
