ಕನ್ನಡವೇ ತೃತೀಯ ಭಾಷೆ ಆದರೆ? ಲೆಕ್ಕಕ್ಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲ ಅಂದರೆ ಬೇರೆ ಭಾಷಿಕರು ಕಲಿಯುವುದೇ ಇಲ್ಲ.

@twistedlogix ಮುಂದಿನ SSLCಗೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಅಥವಾ ದ್ವಿತೀಯ ಭಾಷೆ ಮಾತ್ರ. SEP ಜಾರೀಗೆ ಬಂದಮೇಲೆ, Lingustic Minority Schools ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಮರಾಠಿ/ಉರ್ದು ಪ್ರಥಮ ಭಾಷೆಯಾಗಿ ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ, ದ್ವಿತೀಯ ಭಾಷೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ಆಗತ್ತೆ. ತೃತೀಯ ಭಾಷೆ English ತೊಗೋಬೊಹುದು ಆದರೆ ಮಾರ್ಕ್ಸ್ ಲೇಕಕ್ಕೆ ಬರಲ್ಲ.

This afternoon, I heard my colleagues discussing which dumb phone to order for their school-going kids. Apparently, phones are kept locked in lockers and handed out only before and after school.

@gajamani @gladwin_love @tis_Pops @Akshita_N I don't agree with a lot of policies of Congress. But I agree with their SEP proposal. No need to burden the kids (especially from the rural side) with a 3rd language.

All this will make things only worse! Only hope is in KA, these bad policies get annulled by next Guvt. In TN, both parties out compete to make it worse.

Dear @Akshita_N Because you learned hindi, many doors of opportunity opened for you. You describe moving from chennai to delhi as a big achievement...I'm happy about that & im not belittling it. If learning hindi itself opened doors for you to opportunities like india today & delhi, then if you had learned arabic, wouldnt the doors to one of the worlds largest news media organizations, Al jazeera, & to qatar have opened as well? Why didnt you learn it? The reason is simple... akshita didn't feel the need to learn it, so she didnt. When that need arises, others too will learn hindi or other languages. There is no need to adopt it as a language policy. Moreover, i sincerely believe that the doors of opportunity for akshita will open not because she studied hindi, but because of her talent.

@gajamani @gladwin_love @tis_Pops @Akshita_N OK, even if the minimum is 35, it's still an optional subject. Karnataka SEP proposal will follow similar structure as TN having i.e 3rd optional subject for minority i.e no need for a mandatory 3rd subject. As mentioned before CBSE/ICSE/IGCSE 10th board also has just 2 subjects.

The earlier TN GO was a joke, because for a kid studying Maths and science in Telugu, how can Telugu lang be an optional lang? @gajamani @gladwin_love @tis_Pops @Akshita_N I am comparing Karnataka SSLC with CBSE/ICSE/IGCSE/IB 10th board exams. BTW in Tamilnadu, marks in the optional 3rd language does not affect pass/fail. Official document (3rd page): dge.tn.gov.in/docs/examina/s… Karnataka SEP proposal has similar structure.

@krishnatweets @gladwin_love @tis_Pops @Akshita_N Bcos of Mandatory Tamil act of 2006, Even if they study maths & science in mother tongue, they need to clear Tamil & English mandatorily in 10th board. Comparing 10th board exams of Karnataka State Board with other boards - CBSE/ICSE, only Karnataka board currently has 3 languages for the 10th board exams. All the other boards have just 2 languages for 10th exams. Extra burden only for SSLC students.

@krishnatweets @gladwin_love @tis_Pops @Akshita_N That's in the 2nd educ policy. The NEP of 2023 is difft. There mother tongue becomes medium of instruction until class 5 mandatorily. One link lang & foreign lang gets introduced gradually. The word forcing can be used for any subj, history or maths too. That's not how to look.

@gladwin_love @tis_Pops @Akshita_N The need is well established by an ever growing list of TN parents sending their kids to CBSE schools where 3 lang is being taught. The samacheer kalvi schools where 2 langs are taught is today only for poor people. This disparity is social injustice towards poor kids.
