@JoeAnon2015 @tweetthehat @vxunderground it includes the app store. Why? App stores have DEVELOPERS. They have to ask in their app too :)
English

@tweetthehat @vxunderground Oh, and that's the app developer/publisher, not the app store
English

@tweetthehat @vxunderground Read california's definition of os vendor. It includes people who provide it which includes someone installing it for someone else, etc.
English

@vxunderground You do not. The law require OS vendors to ask a user account how old they are. The OS vendor is responsible, it is an attestation only, and it is completely unenforceable if anyone involved doesn't have a business nexus in the United States.
English

@vxunderground I think it depends. For user accounts, probably. For service accounts, no.

@laffer1 this issue discuss exactly the opposite of adding the age field to their installer and it (the issue) has a lot of support, apparently
that's a good thing for arch
English

Arch is looking at adding the age field in their installer.
Their version is world readable

@BrodieOnLinux Developers have been getting thrown under the bus for just trying to comply with a law we all know is stupid. There's a reason most are silent. I've been both praised and cussed out. My project's server is getting attacks from Brazil now. They should be talking to lawmakers!

@suchnerve And they were profitable until the law was changed to require them to put a ton of money for retirement accounts early.
English

@WowCoolTh4nks @straceX Used to work for AOL also. You could get on, burn 10 free hours and they'd catch it in a day or two.
English

@straceX In the 90s there were credit card generators you could use to bypass adult site verification. Good times.

@LundukeJournal MidnightBSD is implementing the California law, but on it's own schedule. It will not implement Brazil's ID checks. The license ban is still in place until the work can be done.
aged(8) & agectl have been added, partial support in the package manager added

I’m compiling together a list of which Open Source Operating Systems (Linux, BSD, etc.) do (or do not) plan to comply with new Age Verification laws.
I need to track these for the purpose of reporting on the story, and I figured others would find having a list handy as well.
If you’d like to contribute, feel free. Will be adding to the list as more systems are confirmed as either implementing or opposing Age Verification.

@NolteIT @vxunderground And they still are. Since my project changed the license, attacks against my infra have tripled from brazil. They are pissed off at the wrong people.
English

@vxunderground Brazil's government tried to block Arch Linux because someone once used a computer to do something bad. Next logical step: ban electricity. You can't commit cybercrime without it.

@fapi_ai @valigo @lauriewired No, his repeated responses show he's being a tool. If he just said an apology and moved on fine. He didn't do that. He doubled down.
No one should have to deal with this crap.
English

@valigo @lauriewired Nope, it’s harmless post of a meme he didn’t even make that went viral so he tipped his hat to the company paying his bills. The guy is a nobody influencer and Laurie’s response is to try to get him to lose his income. Laurie has a huge platform this is petty, punching down

@rnovak1988 @LundukeJournal The Heritage foundation version is obviously the project 2025 plan. META is trying to avoid liability.
Sorry you're a fucking idiot.
English

@laffer1 @LundukeJournal Anyone still pushing "Project 2025" doesn't have two brain cells to rub together.... my condolences.
Are you trying to say Colorado, California, New York, Washington, and Oregon are all Republican states?!?
You are literally too stupid to insult
English

The Colorado State Bill (SB26-51), which would require all Operating Systems (Linux, Windows, etc.) to include mandatory age verification… has now passed the Colorado Senate.
The vote, which took place yesterday, was 28 to 7 in favor of the bill with 79% of Democrats, and 67% of Republicans, voting “Yea”.
