I have lost count of the number of times when I thought the crisis in #Gaza could not get more horrific. But it has happened again. The fact we are talking about 20,000 people killed, mostly children and women, and with over 52,000 (and counting) afflicted by life-threatening and -altering injuries, in nearly 3 months is both horrific, and, above all, a travesty for humanity. The horrors are endless for those trapped in what has become a Hell on earth. We are witnessing: •⁠ ⁠⁠on average around 300 deaths a day while hostilities have raged •⁠ ⁠⁠a devastated health system with only 9 of Gaza's 36 hospitals partially functioning; with none functioning in the north •⁠ ⁠⁠children orphaned after parents have been slain •⁠ ⁠⁠disease, hunger and lack of clean water and sanitation posing further risks beyond the bombs and bullets •⁠ ⁠a constantly perilous and restricted humanitarian space in which to deliver life-saving medical supplies in •⁠ ⁠⁠mental health trauma that will haunt many for years. The carnage must stop. We need a #CeasefireNOW.

I’m in #Jenin, the West Bank, #Palestine, where I was just visiting the @MSF team at the Khalil Suleiman hospital. While we were there, the Israeli army conducted an incursion on Jenin refugee camp.

We urgently request that the Canadian Government do everything within its power to achieve an immediate ceasefire in #Gaza. Ending the indiscriminate violence is the only way to prevent more deaths and scale up desperately needed humanitarian assistance.

Medical staff in #Gaza are so inundated by the sheer mass of patients arriving that the surgical board used to keep track of the weeks upcoming surgeries has been wiped clean and replaced with these words:

A baby boy, thought to be a day or two old, was found alive near the mosque after heavy Israeli bombardments and taken to Al Shifa Hospital to be cared for. His family's whereabouts, or if they are alive or dead, are unknown. trib.al/3J8ddyg

We are horrified by news coming from Jabalia camp where high numbers of people have reportedly been killed by an Israeli airstrike. After the attack, many wounded people arrived to Al Shifa hospital where our teams helped to provide emergency medical care...
