"Again and again, our major institutions, from the media to the judiciary, have amplified Trump’s presence; again and again, we have failed to name the consequences. Fascism can be defeated, but not when we are on its side." newyorker.com/magazine/dispa…

@AllTheFauxbias @RobGeorge What the fuck are you talking about? Jackson is one of the clearest thinkers and best writers on the Court.

@RobGeorge Thomas doesn’t like AA bc it puts an * next to his name I’m sure some people doubted his smarts at first, but does anyone doubt it anymore? KBJ would not be dissed if she wrote like Kagan, just like no one calls Thomas a dummy (just an Uncle Tom, which isn’t implying he’s dumb)

Just to be clear: Announcing intent to appoint first woman to Supreme Court (Reagan) — OK Appointing Black man to replace first Black on Court (Bush I) — OK Announcing intent to replace female justice with female nominee (Trump) — OK Announcing intent to appoint first Black woman to Court (Biden) — UNCONSTITUTIONAL!!
Clay Travis@ClayTravis

There is a legitimate argument that Ketanji Brown Jackson’s appointment to the Supreme Court — which President Joe Biden specifically said was directly intended to put a black woman on the Supreme Court — was unconstitutional under federal law.

@RobGeorge That a bunch of people were racist doesn't make racism OK. I mean, you're not for the return of SLAVERY, are you?

@jackdoranjr @Evilspawn4 @RobGeorge Hey, Clarence: how about you point to a specific “ruling” of hers and tell us exactly how her reasoning in that ruling is flawed?

@RobGeorge KJB being in any position of power is an abomination and no amount of dishonest strawman arguments will change that. “Can’t define what a woman is” no serious nation would ever tolerate putting a person either that reatrded to that dishonest anywhere near power.

@tophersimmons @ddale8 Weird how you have a specific cite for the one time "86" is used in the sense every honest person knows it;s used (i.e., "get rid of"), but when it comes to all the times it supposedly meant "kill," you're all "trust me, bro."

@ddale8 The Candidate (1972): A political film where a character is told to "86 the sideburns". Various Mafia Social Club Scenes: The term is commonly used in films portraying NYC Prohibition or gangster eras when referring to killing someone or tossing them out.

Entirely sincere question: has anyone seen a mafia movie in which a mobster orders a murder by saying "86 'em"?

@CindyCoops @ddale8 The saying predates the Vegas mob and did not mean to kill someone. Comey's defense will be "I understood the saying to mean to get rid of or take someone/something out of a restaurant, and I thought Trump should be impeached." How will anyone prove otherwise?

@JCRich @ddale8 There is not just one specific meaning, but all of its uses involve getting rid of. One of the uses is when ordering a lethal hit on someone. Something Comey knows very well. And now that we're fleshing out the context of his little stunt, that becomes even more clear.

...– but you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists, okay?” This could be a compelling argument. There’s just one problem:
