It used to be a meaningful thing to be on the receiving end of a federal indictment. You could assume the Government would be very likely to obtain a conviction. Not so much anymore. This case is legally unfounded and borderline frivolous. Even if a grand jury was persuaded to indict a ham sandwich….
FIRE@TheFIREorg

Former FBI Director James Comey has been indicted over his now-deleted “86 47” social media post. But Comey’s speech is protected by the First Amendment. It is not a “true threat” and cannot justify federal prosecution. Longstanding Supreme Court precedent is directly on point.

@Doggymum23 @RadioFreeTom Does it matter? KC probably chuckles at that gauche American, but respects Trump's genuine love for Britain and the Royal family. Also, Trump can be charming- and I'm sure charms KC and Camilla.

@_rotimia @susanbordson If your point is you’re a fucking dipshit looking for reasons to shit on Democrats, it was proven with your original tweet.

@susanbordson I mean this proves my point, if you know the media environment is broken and has bad incentives that create bad behavior, why would you make decisions like this that only hurt your ability to succeed given the terrible media environment?

@GoutGone @MikeBates @SarahLongwell25 It’s the same message, you unbelievably stupid fuck. If “86” a president is an incitement to murder them, it’s a crime no matter who does it. But, your comment begs the question once again: how do you MAGAtards manage to drink a glass of water without drowning yourselves?

Wait a second Sara, you people wanted to arrest and jail Trump for say “peacefully and patriotically” protest. You called that an attempt to overthrow the government. Now, you put your 2 cents in. btw, what Obama did with ordering a fake investigation to a president elected was an overthrow but you yet to say anything about that. You’re a fraud.

@tealtalk @NateSilver538 You keep spewing your dishonest mantra about “lies” and “grift” like some kind of perverted religious mantra. But you never provide any specific evidence for your accusations. Curious.

Yeah, this is a more common belief than I think people want to acknowledge. In part because Democrats have a bigger delta between normie/base and elite/media discourse (i.e. less tolerance for conspiratorial thinking).
Jesse Arm@Jesse_Leg

In our last @ManhattanInst survey, we found that 46% of today’s Democratic coalition believes “the assassination attempt against Donald Trump in July 2024 was orchestrated by his supporters to increase sympathy for him.” manhattan.institute/article/do-dem…

You have to remain skeptical about any of this stuff, but if there’s anyone who would stage an assassination attempt to win an election, it’s Donald Trump.

@NateSilver538 it’s also more than just staged assassinations. Liberals believe the Russian collusion hoax, they believe the Trump is a pedo lie, they believe Trump stole the election, they believe police hunt down unarmed black men, etc Democrats are conspiracy theorists much worse than GOP

@TomJChicago @Acyn I have heard in context with someone getting tossed out of a bar because of obnoxious behavior (“that jerk is 86’d for the night”) and when a restaurant instructs its servers to inform customers they’ve run out of a dish (“86 the prime rib”).

@michaelshermer @CathyYoung63 An absurdity I enjoy is comparing Trump's use of Bankruptcy laws as a relatively powerless private citizen with the almost countless crimes that must have been committed to fill the pockets of nearly every lifelong politician to overflowing. BUT TRUMP

To @CathyYoung63 many comments I will add that Trump's Hollywood Access "grab 'em by the pussy" tape comment would have disqualified any other candidate had they said it (along with his thousands of lies documented by the WaPo, etc.), the way he treated his construction contractors, the use of bankruptcy laws to cover his bad business dealings, etc. That said (and much more just as bad besides about Trump's character), my larger point is that he's our POTUS & that isn't going to change until January 20, 2029, and it isn't good that protesters are calling him a pedo, racist, and rapist when the claims of such are regularly refuted but it leads to political violence. Additional points: I think the E. Jean Carroll trial, along with the 34 felony counts of falsifying business records when he paid off porn star Stormy Daniels (why wasn't THAT alone disqualifying years before?!), were pure politics and never would have happened had Trump quietly retired after losing the 2020 election. As for E. Jean Carroll's decades-old claims in particular, I found them weak and wanting, inconsistent and fuzzy, and I'm not alone as did a great many non-MAGA observers of the trial. Is Trump actually a racist & antisemite inside (as is claimed)? I don't think so. Not any more than, say, many people of his age. But I don't know what's in his mind. But my larger point, again, is that there are endless reasons to criticize Trump without having to smear him with poster-short labels that lead ideologues like Cole Allen to take these accusations literally and violently: "I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes." As Voltaire famously said, "those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities." Truth matters.

Commented this under the original post "Wondering if this is your poking fun on the way Obama capitalized on the Trayvon Martin case by saying that "If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon," knowing full well that that's false. Looks bad but similarly problematic to what Obama said since they both sow racial discord."

Shorter DNC: "We can't release the report because it would lightly lay blame on a small handful of mega-donors and entrenched consultants/operatives who threw their weight around and forced a worldview/vision on the entire ecosystem in 2024 that made it impossible for good operatives to be effective at scale, and, after having run on reforming the party, we are now captured by that same system that those special-interests dominate and we have nothing to say for it."

@BlakPil77087 @FinestOfOakland @jonfavs Yeah. The Supreme Court, which matters a lot more to that debate than some random dipshit on Twitter like yourself said the Constitution does not say that. But maybe you helping elect a few more Trumps will get the Court to change its mind. Kinda doubt that, though.

@FinestOfOakland @jonfavs They had literal Constitutional law telling them they could remove and permanently bar from office a whole slew of Republican Senators and Congresspeople and they made a decision to let it all slide and nobody has admitted that happened, or told us how it happened.
