My wife and I went out to dinner last night, and I’m still a little confused by what happened. 😅🍽️ Our bill was about $70, and we left a $20 tip. In my mind, that seemed more than fair. It wasn’t meant to be cheap or disrespectful — we paid the bill, left what we thought was a good tip, and were ready to go. But the waiter seemed unhappy and made a comment that if we weren’t willing to tip more, we shouldn’t be dining out. That honestly surprised me. A $20 tip on a $70 bill is close to 30%, so I didn’t think we had done anything wrong. I completely understand that servers work hard, and I know tips are an important part of their income. But when a customer leaves what feels like a generous tip and still gets made to feel like it isn’t enough, it makes the whole tipping conversation feel even more uncomfortable. Tipping used to feel like a thank-you for good service. Now it sometimes feels like there’s a number people are expected to hit, and anything below that can cause tension. It feels like everyone is frustrated — customers feel pressured, servers feel undervalued, and the system puts both sides in an awkward position. So I’m genuinely curious: was $20 on a $70 bill unreasonable, or have tipping expectations changed that much? Would you have been surprised too?

As an Irish man, I have more in common with anti immigration protesters in England than I do with Sinn Fein supporters in Ireland. This may be unpopular with some people, but I really don't care.

A teenage boy was taken to hospital with stab wounds after being attacked on Henry Street in Dublin city centre. The incident occurred at around 7.30pm on Tuesday evening near Jervis Street. They’re all white, so let’s pretend it never happened. Not a word from the usual anti-knife crime patriots.

It’s sad what’s happened to @British_Airways : in so many ways now a mediocre airline. The Skyserv lounge at Athens Airport was catered by 1 beleaguered woman; most food missing, tables filthy, lounge with few PowerPts, the worst @ airport. BA website bad, flights late. Failing!

Absolutely disgusting. This has NOTHING to do with immigration - a lone criminal doesn’t represent anyone. Keir & the government are right to call out this thuggery. Burning buses & destroying your own community solves ZERO problems. Law-abiding people on all sides condemn this vandalism. Sort it out with votes, not violence. Pathetic.

@malichi321 @CrimeLdn Used to be an affluent and popular place to live, not quite Wimbledon or Richmond by London standards but not far off. Absolutely fucking dreadful now with Wealdstone and South Harrow even worse. As I said earlier on, aren't governments and councils meant to IMPROVE places?....

Next time you’re in a hideously long EU Airport queue simply shout: ‘This is Farage’s fault’. Everyone in the queue will applaud and cheer. Even the Brexiteers will join in because they won’t dare identify themselves.

Dear @easyJet , If this is not harassment, I’m not sure what is. My family and I were due to board flight EZY2489 from Luton to Pisa on 21 May. We had 4 personal bags, all within the permitted size limits, and nothing else. My boarding pass was scanned without issue, but when my wife scanned hers, a member of staff repeatedly insisted our bags were too big and that we had to pay extra. We explained that we had travelled with these same bags before without any problems. He then asked my wife to place one bag in the sizer, which she did successfully. While we were walking to the bag sizer, he suddenly walked away and loudly announced: “There are only 3 minutes left before the gate closes, I’ll leave you with this and head back.” After the first bag fit perfectly, he then claimed another bag was oversized. During the exchange, he asked another member of staff if she had checked our bags. She said no. He smiled at her in a way that felt dismissive, then asked her to check the bags herself. All 4 bags fit the sizer perfectly. Meanwhile, my children — including my autistic son — were left in tears while we were being told to wait at the gate. The entire experience caused severe anxiety for him, and he is now refusing to fly again. We somehow managed to get him home safely. This experience has also left me deeply upset and questioning whether racism or Islamophobia played a part in how we were treated, especially as my wife and I are visibly Muslim. No family should be treated this way at the boarding gate, especially a family with a special needs child.
