We’ll have both kids in college next year. It will be nearly $100k/year. We’re happy to be their supplemental scholarship to better their lives.
I can’t imagine a kid of a FIRE parent knowing mom and dad thought retiring on a $60k of annual expenses was sufficient and now can’t attend a school of their dreams because their parents didn’t want to work in their 40’s.
Life is about legacy and relationships.

Breaking: man with “red face, devil eyes, and hulk-style clenched fists” on drugs smashes door, breaks into home near Liberty Park in Salt Lake City exclaiming “who am I here to save and who am I here to kill?” at 9:30 pm last night.
Resident is able to get criminal to leave and he was apprehended by SLPD.
Police / media refusing to release criminal’s name. Only that he is a 40yo male. I could not find him listed on the jail roster.
It is ill-advised and extremely risky to verbally attempt to deescalate a criminal on drugs who breaks into your home. There are many other threat neutralization options to protect your family/friends in a situation like this in Utah.

My advice would be 100% do not become a financial advisor as your first role out of school. There is an ocean between those who have only worked as advisors and those who can draw from other roles to be better advisors. If you're really worried about AI, go work for an AI startup for a couple of years. Easy to come back to advising.

For me it's much simpler. I have a choice between two visions of God and Satan.
Vision 1: God formed spirits out of pre-existing intelligences, of which Satan was one of them. Thus making God just in offering spirit-form to all intelligences but unaccountable for evil.
Vision 2: God formed evil with foreknowledge and out of nothing... And we're somehow to believe that act is "all good" and "all loving".

We are not denying that Jesus Christ and Lucifer are both spirit children of God the Father. That is part of Latter-day Saint doctrine.
What we reject is the misleading narrative people attach to the phrase “Jesus and Satan are brothers.” It is often used to imply that Christ and Satan were somehow equals. That is not what we believe.
1. Jesus Christ was not created. He is the Firstborn of the Father in the premortal life and the Only Begotten Son in the flesh.
2. Christ was never on Satan’s level. From the beginning He was chosen as the Redeemer and was in perfect unity with the Father.
3. Lucifer rebelled against God, sought to take God’s glory and destroy human agency, and was cast out of heaven.
4. Through Jesus Christ all things were created under the direction of the Father.
5. Only through Jesus Christ can the gap between humanity and the Father be bridged. Through His atoning sacrifice and blood, we can be forgiven of our sins and return to live in the presence of God.
So while both were spirit sons of God in the premortal life, Christ is the divine Redeemer and Creator, while Lucifer became Satan through rebellion.
