I did not write this to be contentious, but to help those who are vulnerable to darkness. Jesus, Light of the World, be our rescue, our respite, our joy.

@BrianBurne96460 @1armsteve @mikepantile @WalmartThomist Why would I block you? I blocked Steve because he called me a liar. Honest dialogue is not possible with bad faith. I already told him my limitations and he called them excuses. Which is lame since he purports to support the vocation of the home.

@melodymlyons @1armsteve @mikepantile @WalmartThomist YOU went public with inflammatory accusations against a priest with whom Steve directly works. Now refuse to backup your claims with logic fallacies and lame excuses. Go ahead and block me but Shame on YOU!

Commitment to persons or "isms" rather than truth in ideas is making the world quite dumb. This comment section is revealing. Fr. Ripperger vs. Melody Lyons? Feminism vs. anti-feminism? Not really relevant here. This article makes one point: we should not learn anything from the words of demons, even when relayed by an exorcist. Argue for or against that. But stop with the red herrings and ad hominem attacks. Just engage the actual thought.

@Utterly_Jean That's not up to you to decide. And I don't know who "they" is but I'm talking about real abuse victims. So if you're victim shaming--and blaming them for the harm they suffered--you should stop.

@melodymlyons It depends how that pain is manifested. Not everyone who experiences trauma let's it turn into resentment. Sometimes it takes years of therapy or decades if feeling the pain. The difference is if they are using pain to justify malice.

I’d like to challenge this a little bit in consideration of victims of clerical spiritual or sexual abuse. While it’s true that our words can foster unholy bitterness, some resentment flows from pain and is not a choice. Your words here can be interpreted to mean: “The pain and anger that you feel as a result of injustice is a sign that the Holy Spirit is not with you.” I know you don’t mean that, but there are ways to discuss bitterness without putting a soul in this terrible bind. Spiritual abuse doesn’t have to be intended to be real.

When we go online, or listen to conversations about the Church, a good criterion is this: ‘Resentment against the mystical body of Christ is never from the Holy Spirit.’ In Episode 51 of Contemplata, join Fr. James Brent, O.P., as we contemplate the holiness of Christ’s Church. youtube.com/playlist?list=…

@Utterly_Jean Experiencing trauma and profound grief/anger from abuse is not “hanging on to resentment.” That’s the equivalent of telling a sexual abuse victim that their pain is their fault because they aren’t holy enough just get over it.

@melodymlyons there are a lot more people uncomfortable with Fr Ripperger than his fans assume and it’s probably time to bear that out. His lectures on psychology & mental health counseling are also questionable and could convince some from seeking treatment they need because of his position

@1armsteve @mikepantile @WalmartThomist I have hundreds of comments and messages across 4 platforms. And emails and messages so deep I don’t know how I will get to them. You’re not my priority. My family is. Calling me a liar just got you blocked.

@melodymlyons @mikepantile @WalmartThomist everyone is busy so that's an excuse (excuses are lies). You don't have a million other threads. Again, you made the claim Fr R's teaching changed. You have nobody else that has as much as I do on him. Where and when did it change? This either ends your attack or gives it ammo

I’m pretty busy, Steve. Putting it mildly. And there are about a million other threads on multiple platforms with people demanding that I service their preferences. Plus deeper discussions with people whose opinions are consequential in a way that yours and mine are not, media inquiries, and private messages and emails. I do not have time for any of it let alone all of it. I have already said that I will write more when I am able. Peace.

@melodymlyons @mikepantile @WalmartThomist Not hostile just asking for evidence. You made the accusation that Fr changed. I'm asking (bc I have a ton of his stuff) where and when? I can pull up any of that for you. Just tell me where and when unless you are making this up and if so that's bad.

I’d like to challenge this a little bit in consideration of victims of clerical spiritual or physical abuse. While it’s true that our words can foster unholy bitterness, some resentment flows from a pain and is not a choice. Your words here can be interpreted to mean: “The pain and anger that you feel as a result of injustice is a sign that the Holy Spirit is not with you.” I know you don’t mean that, but there are ways to discuss bitterness without putting a soul in this terrible bind. @pursuedbytruth @Danielleshabit Do you think I’m fairly stating this? I don’t want clergy to be afraid to speak of virtue, but I felt so sad thinking of an abuse victim finding his clip.

I would rather use my limited time to write a follow-up article. I don’t take orders here, especially not from hostile people. I am having excellent conversations offline with people of consequence. Tremendously fruitful for all, even with disagreement. Some of those most in agreement with me are folks just as traditional as you are. It is not the same on X. It’s all demands and insults here.

Thank you. Much appreciated sanity. If Catholicism isn’t a cult (it isn’t) then we should be able to have lively discourse without descending into cruelty and absurdities. Excellent, fruitful, and consequential conversations ARE happening outside of social media. But it is possible to have them here as well.

I went for a run with my son yesterday morning and we got caught in a downpour. 5 fun and wet beautiful miles of spring greens pushing through the winter browns. Then this morning a SoulCore rosary with a daughter and local women. Such precious holy time. I’m still mom even though the kids are growing (and even have their own kids) but the way parents model and serve changes. And I know that we’re not supposed to be our kids “pals” when they’re young… But it can really blossom into something that feels an awful lot like friendship over time. Thanks be to God.

No, absolutely not. I don’t have malice toward Father so why would I want you to? I followed him for a long time and even own a couple of his books that I recommended to people. His teaching has changed. His approach has changed. Many traditionalists are growing increasingly uncomfortable. It’s a needed conversation.

I am not looking to be right, I have no followers to impress, but I do love our Catholic faith and dialogue is important. It appears that to hold your position would require me to have malice toward Fr. If you approach this with charity and chruch history, his actions are above board.

Yeah, that's it...I'm just going to write an article on this. Doubling down on accusing Fr. Ripperger of divination is too absurd and grave not to be thoroughly refuted.
Melody Lyons@melodymlyons

FAQ to save some of you time: • Yes, I submitted the Fr. Ripperger article to my husband first. If he would have told me to scrap it I would have done it in a hot second. I’d follow him to the ends of the earth and back. • No, I have no credentials good enough to satisfy you. I’m a nobody in the world. My family usually likes me though. • No, I didn’t contact the Archdiocese of Denver. Have you ever tried to contact a diocese about anything? Good luck. • Am I a narcissistic fem-tard possessed by the devil to take out holy priests? Goodness, I hope not. (“Fem-tard” is a word Tim Gordon made up. Isn’t he clever?) • No, I do not think that Matthew 18 applies in this case, and no, I don’t want to invite Father R to dinner. Not even a little. • Yes, I stand by the word “disobedience” because it is at the root of every distortion in any vocation. It doesn’t usually start with a big NO but by little justifications. Inches. I think this topic merits a separate article. • Yes, I stand by the word “divination.” Most are completely ignoring this point because it’s creepy but it should be elevated. • Yes, I think Fr. R’s collaboration with vulgar dissident Tim Gordon is a direct fruit of disobedience, hugely disturbing and scandalous, and an immediate danger to families. • Yes, I’m aware that they’re talking about me on podcasts and whatnot. Have at it. One of my prayers before publishing was to surrender my reputation… Which I meant at the time but which is much much harder when it hits. I knew what they would say and they are indeed saying it. • Yes, it hurts. • Yes, I’m fine. I can do this because I am safe and loved. Not everyone has that and it motivates me to write on their behalf. • Yes, it’s worth it. I have already heard stories of liberation from gripping fear and discouragement. • Priests, pastors, laity—please know that some people need to be freed from this unholy fixation, and when they are, they will need TLC in the name of Jesus the Healer. Fr. R is leaving people in a bad state and offers no follow up direction for the vulnerable. It’s all you. • Yes, there are a lot of words in my article. People are complaining about that. Reading is hard. I tried to write to the 5th grade level like they tell you in “how to write articles in an age of reels and no attention span” class but I don’t think I did it. I can’t think of anything else. What am I missing?
