@_ankur7 @broadfield_dev @patrickc yes if we ignore absolutely every true piece of information that goes against what you're saying, then your insights are true and wise
English

@broadfield_dev @patrickc don't disagree with you and not saying neuron and transistor are the same. but they do share this switch on/off like function which plays the significant role how brain and computer works.

vieren@richvieren
@litocoen You need to get it from a guy that looks like this.

@KelseyTuoc maybe you could do like a fun little "pop-culture roundup" for your bold new centrist magazine substack thing, where this tone might be more appropriate

I think the position that two sovereign states side by side is an unacceptable result, and Palestinians should refuse peace until a single-state solution is achievable, is basically a position that there is no genocide and no significant humanitarian crisis in Palestine.

Mahmoud Khalil sat down with @jdforward for an extended interview because he wanted to talk to Jews, including those who see his Free Palestine movement as an existential threat. His message, take it or leave it: "I want to liberate everyone." forward.com/news/817276/ma…

@mcmansionhell my own impulse to categorize, and assign attributes to things has been quashed by seeing the logical results of data worship. still fun (exercise on strava, etc) but the way it's used for surveillance/ advertising has changed how i feel about quantifying things in my life.

the internet is by its nature taxonomical. It is structurally a lists of lists and incites collection-like behavior. Those who grow up working with the Internet begin to think with its structures. Platforms collectivize this impulse

Genuine question, what is driving this compulsion to retroactively group largely unrelated but superficially similar bits of visual cultural ephemera, and give them extremely stupid names

I wrote about why millennials freeze at the baby question.
The decisions life asks you to make used to be able to ruin you. For college-educated Americans, they mostly can't anymore.
Progress has eliminated almost every irreversible decision from modern life. Marriage? Career? Moving? All of these--to a large extent--can be reversed or mitigated.
Having a kid is the last high-variance decision left.
And we have basically zero practice making decisions like that.
