@note61763 @RockChartrand You obviously don't believe in helping the less fortunate in the world. But please do not malign those who do.

Socialism doesn’t sustain itself voluntarily. It requires redefining taking as ‘fair’ so it isn’t seen as theft. Remove that moral cover, and it either has to operate by consent or it collapses. If people won’t fund it voluntarily, that tells you everything about its viability.

Raw ‘kill rate’ comparisons without context are meaningless. Iran’s regime kills its own civilians as a matter of policy. That’s initiation of force, not collateral damage. Israel is fighting a defensive war against groups embedded in civilian areas and still shows restraint it doesn’t have to. Intent matters. Targeting matters. Context matters. Being weaker doesn’t make you defensive. And the fact the conflict continues shows restraint, not excess.
The Green Dragon Tavern@greendragonhq

Israel has a higher civilian kill rate than ISIS and Hamas. This is not satire or an exaggeration.

@VinodBhardwajUS @RockChartrand "The same is true in a society." No it's not. Not with your loose definition of society anyways. If we actually had any allegiance or ideology in common you may have a point, but we don't.

What you are saying is exactly what I am saying. In a family, you have to take care of those who cannot earn for themselves whether it is your minor kids, or your old parents. The same is true in a society. We should help those who cannot help themselves. Everyone cannot be an entrepreneur, everyone cannot become a doctor or an engineer. There are people who are born unfortunate, or have unfortunate circumstances. My father died when I was 8. My elder brother who was just 16 supported a family of 6. My friend's dad paid for my education in the Indian Institute of technology, one of the best institutions in India. I was lucky enough to have the intelligence to be able to get admission. That changed my life. I have founded 7 companies. 3 successful and 4 failures. In contrast my youngest brother couldn't even get a decent job. In life so much depends on luck. You invest in a company and it takes off. In my own company an investment of $25 million turned into $10 billion. Were the investors not lucky? All they had to do was to write a check. If the government "steals" some of rich people's money for the benefit of the less fortunate, it makes for a good society. The government always forces. You have to follow laws even if you do not agree with them. No one has consented to paying a tax, and yet no one can say no. Income tax is robbery by the government. Everyone should pay the same exact amount of tax because everyone gets the same services from the government. Then there is gift tax and estate tax to which I have not consented to. So, the argument is not whether people should be forced to give their money but how much of their money should they be forced to give for the benefit of the less fortunate.

@TrioloLuke @RockChartrand Mere collateral. The goal was to blow up the bridge to disrupt the supply chain. Last I checked people don't generally live on bridges.

@IFindTreason76 @TooWhiteToTweet You mean iran? We attacked them to slow their development of nuclear weapons. Not a just reason. But extremely pragmatic.

@note61763 @TooWhiteToTweet Then why did we do a “pre-emptive” strike on a country that literally poses no threat to the United States?

@note61763 @RockChartrand So you lied. Like I said. Israel sometimes gives warning but not always. They also kill people with small arms. Like double tapping toddlers, or shooting whole families to death in their cars. Sometimes they double tap hospitals and schools to make sure they get medics.

@TrioloLuke @RockChartrand You ask for too much. I neither have the space for the sources nor desire to waste so time on you. But here are some sources for it. Official IDF website, Lieber Institute for Law of War & Armed Conflict (West Point), Wikipedia on "Roof knocking", American Jewish Committee (AJC)

@VinodBhardwajUS @RockChartrand Totally. Unless that kid is a minor forcing the parents to care for them is theft. Please note I said forcing. Consent changes everything.

@RockChartrand If a kid is living on his dad's income, or an old parent is living on his kids income, it is not fair, it's theft by your definition.

@note61763 @RockChartrand They did not such thing. All of Gaza city is rubble. They bombed tents, hospitals, schools. They shot children, medics, journalists and aid workers. There is zero evidence that they took care to target anything in particular. The death toll almost certainly *is* in the 100k's.
