today, I wanted to contribute to tinygrad but got confused as to what the fuck I was reading. So, I embark on a project - will be documented and hopefully improve my low-level ML side;

@macona Are the cable rated for 225A? They look a wee bit thin.

Building a “little” mosfet soft starter to try and limit the starter current on the turbine. FETS are rated for 100v @ 225a and I think if I put 4 in parallel I should be in the SOA.

Fortunately there's an easy cure for this problem: look at each sentence and ask if you could imagine yourself saying it to a friend. Would you begin a sentence with "furthermore"? No? Then don't do it in your writing either.

One of the biggest problems afflicting young writers is the belief that writing has to sound fancy — that it can't just sound like spoken English. Actually the more it sounds like spoken English the better.

@DJSnM Even in the largest systems a single bit flip can still ruin a training run unless you design against it.

The other question I have for people who have actually done research on training machine learning systems. Is there any research on what happens if there are random bit flips in the data during the training. Naively bit flips are bad for software but maybe in the big mess of numbers that define network weights they don’t mind the odd bit flip. Or shall we say ‘spark of inspiration’.

Pretty far and pretty fast 🙂 We can't talk about numbers publicly, for obvious reasons, just know that we wake up everyday eager to make our gun a little more lethal than yesterday.
john kyriazakos@JohnKyriazakos

@StevenSimoni How far and how fast? Observation drones usually fly high, and the latest kamikaze drones are very fast

I'm reading Thomson's History of Chemistry, written in 1830, and it's all the more interesting because they're still just beginning to figure things out.

It turns out that the power output of the Falcon 9 is roughly equivalent to the power output of a Falcon 9-sized piece of the surface of the Sun. Who has the most improbable first principles explanation for this coincidence?
Andrew McCarthy@AJamesMcCarthy

I’m proud of this one. I brought a solar telescope to Florida to capture a Falcon 9 rocket launch transiting the sun. While these have been captured before, never with the details of the sun’s chromosphere, which makes this one the first! See the video or get the print below 👇
