Idiots like these are the reason the entire Jain community will face flack.
I live in a society that has a good mix of jain-marwadi-gujarati-marathi, and we've never had any such issues. Most Jains here are sane and respect society and local rules (e.g. they stopped feeding pigeons after the dictat and understood how it becomes a social hazard in cities). They even are part of the Ganpati procession in the society and will participate in all events.
Extremist buffoons like this one will be the reason we stoke a Marathi vs Jain war when the real enemy is lurking in the background.

Vegetarianism is a perfectly legitimate dietary choice. Especially if you can afford it (nutritious vegetarianism is harder and costlier).
