In today’s education news, as it is revealed it now costs parents over £1000 per child for childcare over the summer break, whilst some argue the holidays need to change, I say what are businesses and employers doing to help parents?

Tense shouting here now as police now separate the anti-migrant protest from the pro-migrant protest @BelTel

@zcelliott_ Nope. We are one of the 100 who said no. No space, no specialist teachers, no specialist CAs, no say over which pupils come, not convinced that EA will support as they should, not willing to take on the extra responsibility and workload. Build more special schools

@BBCNewsNI Disappointing headline but not surprised. Blaming schools. Instead, ask why they have said no. This does not put learners first but the system first and so boxes can be ticked. Pupils need right specialist support/resources. EA saw this coming.

@primaryheadNI @EBPSPrincipal Or to put it another way - what were they doing wrong before? Or is it actually that they were doing nothing wrong but there were less *pastoral* and more *advantageous* reasons for change? 🤔

@EBPSPrincipal A genuine question I’ve been asking for a long time.:.. On the first day a controlled school “transforms” to integrated status what is so transform-ally different to the day before? No sector should be above another. #opentoall - always have been, always will be.

Controlled schools are #OpentoAll and are organically-integrated. All are welcome. Local schools serve local communities. Schools are centres for education, personal growth & development. I wouldn’t denigrate any sector or school, nor use unverifiable anecdotes to caricature them

@gericam1 @liam_mcguckin_ Genuine question - were school leaders invited to the launch? I saw an awful lot of politicians but very few leaders in press coverage pictures.

@drgrahamgault I did laugh wryly but at the hours the system populated for some of my staff, complete work of fiction. Shambles

School leaders … have you laughed wryly when completing your new time cards? NAHT members are working, on average, 57-hour weeks, which is not only illegal, it is dangerous. There is no safe ceiling to your hours, and the absence of awareness of this is beyond belief.

@taramillstv @MichaelFanning7 @belowtheradartv @justbind What an incredible documentary. It must have been very difficult to make but yet so important. Congratulations to everyone. Nothing will ever bring your brother and Finn’s dad back but I hope you found some comfort in this.
