@DrWHKitchen @Education_NI I think we’re talking past each other here. I’m not anti-knowledge, & I agree theory & practice are connected by evidence. My concern is keeping space for judgment, context, & craft alongside formal theory — & with where the current trajectory appears to be taking us as a system

@EBPSPrincipal @Education_NI You mustn't have read Lucy Crehan's report.
I suspect you are a naysayer, whose anti-knowledge views mean you're willing to ignore evidence, and adopt ideology.
Theory and practice are not a mutually exclusive dichotomy. They are both connected by evidence.

facebook.com/share/r/1FoYLb… Real reform builds on success. TransformED risks breaking strong parts of NI education while chasing theory over practice — exactly the mistake Ken Robinson cautions against. #EducationNI @Education_NI #TransformED

@DrWHKitchen @Education_NI @Ed_Authority @tgeducation Agreed. Teaching is far more than imparting knowledge; reducing it to that misses its intellectual and human complexity.
English

@EBPSPrincipal @Education_NI @Ed_Authority @tgeducation Who said teaching was merely imparting knowledge?
I've written a book on the teaching- knowledge relationship. Rather than quoting JP (who I admire), maybe read and critique my own comments on knowledge.
Anyone who reduces teaching to simply imparting knowledge isn't very bright.

Teaching: art form or science?
It’s undoubtedly BOTH.
Teaching is more than imparting knowledge. It is greater than the sum of its parts & certainly not painting by numbers!

@FakeHeadTeachNI School closures, mergers and redundancies … but sure, why prepare @Education_NI ?

With a 15% drop in the school age population in NI over the next 10years, what will the impact be in schools 🏫?

@DrWHKitchen @tgeducation Those promoting TransformED should be wary of becoming what they claim to be correcting: unchallengeable, unlistening, and insulated from the realities & subtleties of classrooms.
English

@DrWHKitchen @tgeducation A critique of method isn’t a rejection of content. Dismissing Gallagher ad hominem is premature; serious reform must remain alert to unintended consequences.
English

A disappointing contribution by @tgeducation
It's sloppy and frankly lazy for anyone - let alone a Professor in Education - to compare Gove's reforms to Givan's.
It strikes me as opportunistic, and profoundly intellectually dishonest.

Sobering reading. Highlights exactly why NI must avoid repeating England’s mistakes: ideological reforms, diminished teacher professionalism, & policy made above the heads of those who deliver it. We need open, honest, locally grounded conversations, not pre-packaged solutions.

@EBPSPrincipal Not convinced. Some excuse will be found by DE for lack of progress on delivery. Not pessimistic, just realistic based on ‘lived experience’ !@EBPSPrincipal @NASUWT_NI @INTO_NI

Workload was the core issue & still is. Hoping this deal sticks but does more than a band-aid re workload. Timeframes for delivery of reforms in place & November will also come around fast. Thank you to the various unions who have risked their credibility on accepting this deal
