@NormanHermant @abcnews Ironic given that funding such whimsical security and progression of the public sector will require more tax and/or deficit spending which robs from the security and progression of the private sector who are already struggling.

Working for @abcnews is a privilege that I never take for granted. But too many of my colleagues struggle with insecure work & little or no pay progression. We're taking industrial action today to call for a fair Enterprise Agreement. #QualityNewsQualityJobs

@ThiefToken @MainstreamViews 100% this. It fucking sucks when your commute, to and fro, is in darkness. My mood absolutely tanks in winter.

@MainstreamViews Daylight exposure after work can significantly improve mood and well-being.Returning home during daylight hours provides continued exposure to bright natural light, which helps regulate the body's circadian rhythm.

@MainstreamViews It tricks you into waking up earlier. It also means you finish the day earlier so you have more sunlight hours to do things you actually want or need to do. I reckon DST should just be standard year round.

@ausstockchick As long as they don’t whip out the old “new normal” ratshit. Except for remote work. That can stay.

The international energy agency is warning people should take fewer flights, fewer cars and more remote work. They reckon this disruption is going to be historic. #news

@central01000011 It’s just so obviously a dumb idea that doesn’t deserve any consideration and should not be taken seriously. Yes, your parade absolutely deserves to be rained on.

@central01000011 Why don’t we build resi towers on top of the harbour bridge or opera house? 🙄 Building above Central (or just about) is not a practical or necessary thing. It’s a “imagine if” novelty. There’s no actual reason to do so. Could even cause issues for rail infra in the future.

If a shop is selling illegal tobacco, it needs to be shut down. Full stop. And the landlords punished too. #auspol

@central01000011 There’s no actual merit to building anything there. It’s not going to somehow be better or more valuable than somewhere else in the area. At best, even if it’s “not worse” and noise, crowds etc wasn’t an issue, it still begs the question, what’s the point? It’s a vanity project.

@central01000011 We are the 6th largest country on earth, and are an entire continent. Somehow I don’t think we are -that- desperate that we need to build quite literally over the top of central station. It’s a novelty concept for density fetishists.

@Ol_Wall @central01000011 I didn’t say that (+ that’s another topic entirely). I just said that I don’t think it would be a suitable site for residential.

At the 2nd ever Bathurst 12 Hour in 1992, Allan Grice and Brad Jones entered a Holden Commodore Ute into the production car race. It was decently quick, getting 8th in early an test sessions, but would finish 26th due to the fuel tank delaminating and clogging the fuel system

@central01000011 My reasoning had nothing to do with economics or NIMBY/YIMBY-ism. It’s a stupid idea and we don’t need it anyway. Pretty simple.

@au_samschriever The biggest cultural problem in Australia is apathy. People who are ignorant or indifferent to politicians completely exponentially fucking everything up on a daily basis Maybe we need things to get that bad to break the spell before they get better.

@Red_dragon_fly @wtfinawtfworld So 30+ years of scope-creep socialism, deindustrialisation, demolishing power generation, mass 3rd world immigration, all that and more, both in Australia and Canada/USA/NZ/Europe… but yeah nah hey, that didn’t cause this mess, it’s all Trump. Solid logic

@wtfinawtfworld Perhaps if you grew up a little bit and and realised that it’s got very little to do with the government at the moment but to deal with the American government which is run by a far right political movement.
