@stanademikstv @PopCrave Bro I was looking to see if anyone heard this because this song is an undeniable banger that even the biggest hater couldn't deny. If Drake dropped this today it would be #1 for 30 weeks

@industrypolitic I agree with him beefing with Hov would be idiotic, not for the reasons you say. But I disagree with the fact that Kendrick was always favored. I remember that gap period in between Pushups and Euphoria. Even the biggest kendrick fans in the media had Drake up

If Drake is even considering this, then he still hasn’t learned how this “culture” operates when it comes to him. I mean, J-FZ can walk on stage, mumble a few words, walk off, and the same people will act like they just witnessed greatness. Need a reminder? Look no further than the Kendrick beef. The entire online “culture” mobilized against Drake before most people even heard both sides. How many times do they have to show us the playbook before we believe them? Drake, make your music. Focus on your fans. They’re never going to give you the win anyway, they already decided the outcome before the game even starts.

@AngrymanChannel Not like he solely responded to Drake. He responded to every person who was talking negatively about him (minus 50 and I think him not mentioning him IS a diss)

@AngrymanChannel You're not wrong but do you think he did it for clout? Or did he do it because he had a concert appearance, likes to make the most of his appearance and wanted to get some shit off his chest?

Ebro called it the "Hov Stimulus Package" — Jay responds to Drake and suddenly everybody's revisiting old bars and putting Hov back at the center of the conversation. And he's not wrong. But think about what that quietly admits. The "retired king above all the noise" needed the smoke to feel relevant again. So who really benefited from this? Let's be honest.

@Andrekjei @ghost09867 Gotta throw 2011 in there. Take Care and Watch The Throne had the charts. Also saw the emergence of Kendrick, J. Cole, Meek Mill, Joey Bada$$, Asap Rocky, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul. list goes on. One of my favorite years of in hip hop history.

👀🤦🏾‍♂️ Looks Like King Kunta, the so-called “West Coast Uniter” Kendrick Lamar got his First Lady of pgLang, Imani Selina, who is a Suriname-born and Amsterdam-raised singer/songwriter. 🧐 So Mr. West Coast himself overlooked all the Black women talent on the West Coast and America and went all the way to Amsterdam to find a mixed queen? Interesting. 🤔 📍What’s even crazier is it seems Kendrick is still copying Drake’s playbook. Drake has Naomi Sharon, who also comes from a Dutch territory background, and now Kendrick’s main female artist is from Amersterdam in the Netherlands. Of all the places in the world he went to Dutch connected country like Drake to find their female artist. The parallels are hard to ignore. 💿 On Imani Selina’s album Paper Cut, which dropped today, you can clearly hear what sounds like Kendrick attempting to sing background vocals on the song “Come Together.” 🎤 For those who don’t know, Imani is best known in the hip hop space for her vocal and songwriting contributions to “I Feel Something,” one of the records that was suppose to be on Kendrick Lamar’s Mr Morale associated with the pgLang camp. 🤔 So let me get this straight… The man who built an entire movement recently around West Coast unity couldn’t find one talented Black woman singer from Compton, Los Angeles, Oakland, Long Beach, Sacramento, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Vegas, Phoenix, or anywhere else on the West Coast? Instead, he flew past all that talent and landed in Amsterdam. 😭 But Drake is the culture vulture though, right 🤦🏾‍♂️

Wtf are you even talking about. I want rap to succeed, people dont like to listen to it anymore at a mainstream level. There is no superstars like TI, Kanye, The Game, Rick Ross, Kendrick, 50 Cent, Eminem, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z. These mfers used to drop all in the same year. Tell me who's under 30 with their level of superstardom lol. The superstars are Sabrina Carpenter and Morgan Wallen. No new exciting young rappers killing it with something different, unique. That chick Doechii had a great album, super gifted, actually raps, and mfers called her a plant LOL

@rationprotocol @scaryhours5555 Tell that to the rappers whose livelihoods depend on it. Y’all are some idiots for real. You want your hatred to ruin the lives of other black people just for your stupid ego and because you virtually have zero stakes in it. All you do is yap

They're trying to make the Billboard Hot 100 chart strictly Pop & Country. It's no way urban/black songs stand a chance with radio having as much power as it does. I rapper/singer will need a perfect 10/10 song like "Janice STFU" by a Drake type artist to compete with a 7/10 country song that's been out for 7 months.... Yeah, y'all got it

I wasn't clear - his music will obviously stand the test of time. It will no longer linger on the charts for multiple weeks 30 plus weeks etc. 53w - Not Like Us (Kendrick Lamar) 52w - Trap Queen (Fetty Wap) 52w - See You Again (Wiz Khalifa) 52w - SICKO MODE (Travis Scott) 52w - Woman (Doja Cat) 51w - What's Poppin (Jack Harlow) 51w - I Like It (Cardi B) 51w - Watch Me (Silento) 51w - Big Energy (Latto) 49w - Thrift Shop (Macklemore) 48w - Lucid Dreams (Juice WRLD) 48w - Need To Know (Doja Cat). Notice all of these either have a very melodic hook and are what I would call hybrid rap/ trap/ melodic rap whatever. NLU is an exception to a very huge cultural moment. It is not a long term trend, simply an isolated moment. Also you have a good point most of the talking heads would trash the goats of your generation. But tell me, who are they? Idek if I know

@rationprotocol @scaryhours5555 Hip-Hop media did this. Most of the talking heads would rather trash the goat's of our generation instead of appreciating them. Btw, to think Drake's music ain't gonna stand the test of time, you'd have to ignore the FACT that it's already doing it.

And just to drive this fact. The list of songs that Drake has had help writing on, is 10 times larger than the list hes helped others write lol. For all we know all these songs are from the OVO sweatshop and he gave them away. His pen is permanently questionable. I mean an artist just came out 2 weeks ago saying he stole Little Birdie from him lol

Wow Drake is extremely good at writing from the perspective of an emotional woman. 90% of these songs aren't even rap songs wtf he the goat of lol. Kendrick wrote All The Stars (including the chorus and melody), 16 by Baby Keem, All Day for Kanye, music for Jay rock and Schoolboy Q. He even wrote Jay Rock's groundbreaking verse on Money Trees. If anything constantly bringing up Kendrick Lamar when he hasn't dropped an album in 2 whole calendar years while drake has dropped over 80 songs in the last 2 years is enough said. Y'all gonna be coping FOREVER

If you needed another reason why Drake is better than Kendrick Lamar, let’s talk about all the hit songs he wrote for other artists. Unthinkable - Alicia Keys 6th Sense - Kodak Black Yikes - Kanye West 30 Hours - Kanye West Facts - Kanye West I’m Single - Lil Wayne Mine - Beyoncé Not Nice - PARTYNEXTDOOR Fall For Your Type - Jamie Foxx I Been That Girl - Melanie Fiona R.I.P. - Rita Ora & Tinie Tempah Now what songs has Kendrick written for anybody that was this successful? If he’s written any? When it comes to rap, Drake will go down in history as one of the greatest of all time. The only reason we’re not calling him the GOAT yet is because we still hold the classic artists in such high regard. But in another ten years? We’re gonna have to say Drake is the greatest of all time.

You're too young. Before he even met Kanye people considered him a top 5 rapper ever. Not to say Kanye's production put a battery in his back because it did. But so did Timbaland, No ID and Just Blaze. Id argue Just Blaze's production was even crazier than Kanyes for Hov. U Dont know, Lyrical Exercise, Public Service Announcement. It might be cliche to say, but PSA has one of the craziest instrumentals ive ever heard. And to this day idk if ive ever heard a better Jay instrumental than the Intro to The Dynasty album.

It just what it is. The same happened to punk music it went super mainstream for awhile with people like Avril Lavigne and Green Day then it died. Rap had a golden era with tons of greats competing with each other. And even just 15 years ago the blog era had Kendrick, Drake, Wayne, Kanye, Joey, Krit, Mac, Ab-Soul, Q, Meek, ASAP, Wale, Big Sean, Tyler all fully active in the same year. Mainstream rap evolved from the days where you can be excited for a TI album and the very next week a Kanye West album or The Game. Soundcloud era brought a ton of diversity and new original acts. But imo started the decline of the genre. People no longer "like" rapping. They like this half-sung/half-rapped version where lyrics aren't even the priority (see Playboi Carti). It's more about branding and aesthetics/aura. There are very few superstars currently active and the ones that exist are from previous generations. Unless new ones emerge, the genre will continue to be a shell of its former self. This all started around 2018ish. Streaming also had a major impact on this as well. In the future, I imagine it will be niche fanbases for specific artists (Baby Keem, Ken Carson, Yeat) but none of them will be Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z and Drake. And none of them have their talent either bc people dont like rap anymore.

Bc people like Jay, Nas, Kendrick even Pusha are the "real deal". They're all cerebral rappers. Mfing Nas is in his 50s and how many young rappers could honestly go toe to toe with him? None. When all these guys were young they could easily go toe to toe with OGs. Not the same anymore

Nigga, what? Drake is the only rapper who has battled multiple times. There's a reason people go at him and not anyone else. No, lyrically Duppie killed Pusha T and Family Matters bodied Kendrick. Jay-Z himself doesn’t look at anybody else’s as competition besides Drake. Everybody else, he looks at them as workers that includes Kendrick.

🚨 Mal believes a Drake vs Jay-Z battle will eventually happen “Drake is the top dog of this era while Hov is the greatest ever…” Mal says the two eventually have to see each other on wax but unlike recent rap beefs, he believes it would be more of a “friendly fade” than actual beef Mal also admitted he’d be riding with Drake if it ever happened “Hov is big bro… but Drake is my man…I gotta go with my man.” Via Rory and Mal
CY Chels@SeewhyChels

🚨 Mal reveals Drake was texting him about Jay-Z’s Roots Picnic freestyle in real time according to Mal, Drake was one of the first people to reach out after Hov’s performance… but while everyone else was focused on the bars, Drake’s main question was: “Yo, but what’s up with the hair?” Meanwhile, Rory says things got so heated that Jermaine Dupri grabbed his phone at an afterparty and demanded he FaceTime Mal immediately JD allegedly got on the call and started yelling: “Pick a side of the family!”
