@IAPonomarenko There is obviously a power struggle inside Iran right now to where negotiations aren't fruitful. So, Trump is giving them time to get their crap together. To force their hand he's keeping the blockade, which will obviously wreak havoc on them. And he can always change his mind.

So let me get this straight: Iran not only refuses further negotiations, it doesn't even bother to show up, is keeping the Strait of Hormuz blocked -- and Donald Trump, after all the bravado, threats of extermination, and chest-thumping, just extends the truce, does nothing, and waits for the regime to “submit their proposal”? If that’s not a humiliating fiasco and a display of complete weakness, I don’t know what is.

Trump was crazy in his first term, but people stopped him. Gary Cohen put the tariff memorandum in the shredder. Nobody let him bomb North Korea. There were rational people in the room who looked at each other and said — we’re going to curb his crazy. If he’d won in 2020 he’d still have had Republicans around him. Not perfect. But people who loved the country and would have kept him in check. And we’d be done with him by 2024. But he lost and losing fortified him. Trump 1 had guardrails. Trump 2 has none. That’s the difference and that’s why this moment is so much more dangerous.
