@morepellent @Travis_Sawchik How is “power model” not a choice? Hitters are selected/trained for power hitting, not for ability to avoid Ks. Batting averages would likely be going down regardless of pitch velocity because as you stated, no one values it.

Yes I believe it’s possible that in a test of speed one guy from the previous 120 years of baseball threw a ball slightly harder than any recorded pitch in the last 15. And if the calibration was slightly off and he “only” threw 105, so what?

@roccoofrhode @tangotiger The fastest pitch recorded in the modern era is 105.8. 107 is significantly higher considering the margins you’re getting into and considering basically all emphasis is placed on velocity nowadays you think no one would’ve hit it by now?
