@wamweaaa Claude is not the only good model out there. A $20 ChatGPT plan gives you really good usage of GPT-5.4 which is as good if not better than Opus 4.7. If you don't mind Chinese models, Kimi, Z.ai, Xiaomi provide good value at a fraction of Claude's costs.

An issue I'm noticing with AI in Africa is the token costs for getting meaningful output are really high. A dev paid Ksh 80k can't afford to spend $200 on Claude Max. What if we had a community where we shared low-cost strategies for leveraging AI in our workflows? Y'all in?

@Anaya_sharma876 I've been using it with hyprland since 2024 and I haven't encountered any issues. Snaps are easy to uninstall including the snapstore, Ubuntu Pro is free for upto 5 devices and you only set it up once and forget about it.

Since Canonical keeps making anti-Linux decisions, it's getting ridiculous. They are forcing Snaps on everything (even Firefox via apt), spam terminal with Ubuntu Pro ads, and the Snap Store keeps letting malware through. This isn't the Ubuntu we loved anymore. It's turning corporate. Time to switch. I am planning to go with fedora or something else

After 3 incredible years and 1.6M students later, my journey at ALX Africa has come to an end. It has been a life-changing experience, during which I made a lot of friends, worked with an incredibly dedicated team, and met so many talented students. A few numbers. We scaled from a few thousand students to 1.6M students on our platform. Students loved it and many of them took more than one course: 4M total! For the famous #ALX_SE Software engineering program, our SE students made an average of 2,000 commits and our checker reviewed 180M of their projects. That’s 2B lines of code… and that was before Claude Code. They actually wrote these themselves (unless Kimba said otherwise :) A big thank you to all my SE team mates, I am so proud of what we have accomplished, and I will really miss you all.
