@LouStagner Insightful, but these really need to be segmented by age brackets. A 30 y/o 10 HDCP on average is going to hit a VERY different distance than a 60 y/o 10 HDCP.

One question I often get is: "how do players with different handicaps perform with the same club". For example - will a scratch player with a 7 iron perform about the same as 10 index player with a 7 iron? From whatever yardage you pick, scratch players will tend to use a shorter club than a higher handicap player. This is because as handicap improves, players tend to hit the ball longer, and will be able to use a shorter club from a given yardage. Many golfers have speculated that a scratch player with a 7 iron will perform similar to a 10 index player with a 7 iron. Is that true? I took a deep dive into the @ArccosGolf database to see what is actually happening. You can see the data in the chart below. As you can see, scratch players are significantly better with the same club compared to higher handicap players. From a hit green percent and proximity perspective: Scratch player with a 6 iron is similar to: - 5 index with a 7 iron - 10 index with an 8 iron - 15 index with a 9 iron A HUGE key to lowering your handicap is improving your iron play!
