Anyone in contact with Darrin Johnson @darjohn25, WATCH OUT. This guy took a large loan from me and ghosted on the payments. Background: In 2023 I loaned Darrin $200,000 to help with a downpayment for his family’s dream home. Darrin told me he had a short-term liquidity need and the funds would be paid back within one month. As a long time friend of Darrin’s I agreed to help him out. One month went by and I received nothing. Three months passed and still, nothing. All I received were screenshots of wire transfers that never came through… I granted Darrin an incredible amount of time and grace to get his affairs in order. But it seems all I received were lies and empty promises in return. By mid-2025 I decided to restructure the loan, and give him another year to sort affairs while only having to maintain a low monthly payment of $1,694.20. He couldn’t even honor that…. Darrin's repayment is now more than two years delinquent. I’ve concluded that Darrin took a loan from me, bought a primary residence with it, and then homesteaded the property to prevent recovery of the funds. After countless missed payments from Darrin, I decided to file a petition. Darrin didn't even bother to respond in court to contest so a default judgement has been awarded in my favor from the State of Texas. Peruse the court documents attached to the post for proof. Do not trust Darrin under any circumstances and stay clear of any business or financial affairs with him. I’m learning about his character the hard way.

You have gotten HOD cleared out on every pyramid attempt. Every "bag holder"/"look left" play has failed. Every strategy in your portfolio has been decimated. The Spaniards posting daily execution charts coupled with widely available AI backtest tools have eroded your winrate and risk to reward ratio. Every gapper with dilution chops and "barcodes" all day only to dump at 1am when you're asleep. To adjust, you decide to start swinging these short overnight since a fundy bro said "all small caps need to dump and dilute eventually". Every two weeks the manipulators squeeze a play 10,000% on low liqudity in AH at midnight $CIIT style to target swing shorts. You cancel all of your "robust" flashresearch backtested strats. You turn to the "just adapt it's a skill issue, bro" guys for help. It doesn't work. All of the furus on twitter ramp up the fomo agent tweets and ads to all of the struggling short sellers. They are all at ATH numbers selling subscriptions. Three months later you open up linkedin and update your work history: "Quantiative trader of equities" 03/2020-09/2026. Shorting small caps with the flash research backtest tool. The end of the HTB edge is near. Godspeed.

There’s a really weird “keep it positive” culture on FinTwit, especially among guru followers. Any negative view on the expected returns of popular strategies or even mentioning very real risks gets framed as toxic hating or whining. I honestly don’t know how you succeed in trading with that mindset. Trading is largely about risk management, and forced positivity is one of the worst mental patterns you can have. I much prefer Ray Dalio’s framework of hyperrealism first. He probably knows more about surviving and succeeding in markets than all alleged 8–9 figure traders on X combined.

i see overconfidence and arrogance, slippery slope, seen this in other communities in poker these guys were first to go when edge eroded in fighting people who talk tough usually never experienced violence, ended badly no one knows the future, i hope it wont happen, but plan B set in place already, im one of those who moved to large caps

@rtc_555 What is reasoning for moving to other market if it seems quite clear that the biggest reason why edge is getting erroded in SCs is AI ? Development of AGI will likely render all (legal) human trading edges obsolete within 1-3 years regardless of what market you are trading

This is a very good illustration of an edge going away. For me, edge has always meant risk-adjusted returns. Returns may not be down that much, but the associated risk is significantly higher now.
