FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Statement by Purnima Nath, Candidate for U.S. Congress (WI-4), on U.S. Invasion of Iran I strongly condemn the United States, under the leadership of Donald Trump, for its invasion of Iran, including the targeted extrajudicial killing of senior state and religious leadership. These actions constitute a grave violation of international law, including the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter — particularly the prohibition on the unlawful use of force and the obligation to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations. They represent a direct breach of Iran’s sovereignty and raise serious concerns regarding compliance with both international and domestic legal frameworks governing the use of military force. The targeting of leadership within a sovereign state is a dangerous escalation that undermines the rules-based international order and weakens global norms designed to prevent conflict and preserve peace. Such actions risk further destabilisation and ultimately endanger the safety and security of the American people. I call for: * Immediate de-escalation of hostilities * A return to genuine, good-faith diplomacy — not negotiations used as a pretext or political ploy for further escalation * Full adherence to international law, including respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity * Transparency and accountability for decisions that led to this action Any diplomatic engagement must be credible, sincere, and directed towards peace — not used as cover for continued escalation or targeted killings. At this critical moment, restraint, responsibility, and respect for international norms are essential. Peace, stability, and global security depend on the consistent application of the rule of law. @PurnimaNath Candidate, U.S. Congress (WI-4)
