@mollywidstrom I got case designed to fit in overhead for this very reason. However, he used Calton brand "flight case" designed to be safely checked. $1500(!) for case alone bc crush resistant to 1100lbs & 9ft drop rating. Industry standard. I guarantee handlers ran it over w baggage vehicle

I’ve eaten off Denby pottery my whole life. Made in England, it’s astonishingly robust as well as attractive. Be very sad to see it die …

@1714tak The Salieri is a new one for me! I shall go and track it down with Easter approaching. Thanks!

@scope_views Fantastic! Thank you. Every Christmas/Easter I put together a playlist. Without Handel. Lots of Bach and then other things. Salieri wrote a magnificent Easter piece. Haydn 7 last words. Berlioz at Christmas. As well as a great Christmas opera by Hindemith. Charlentier in Dec! 😬

Of the 4 top French Baroque greats - including Lully, Rameau, Couperin - Charpentier is the least known for me. Not quite sure why. This is fantastic music. I’ve been really diving into French Baroque lately. So fantastically different than German and Italian!

Could be a competitive advantage for Wayve if they can get their tech running well on Qualcomm chips, compared to other players that need a full Nvidia stack

@fakehistoryhunt This image actually appears in Google's list of artworks when searching for Francesco Laurana. That's crazy.

My eldest son asked me for Victoria sponge cake today. We made it together and enjoyed a nice slice with a cuppa tea! This is British culture 🇬🇧

🧵 (3 posts) On 14 March one hundred and forty five years ago , a booming sound echoed across north-east Yorkshire. At 3.35 pm, workmen at a Middlesbrough railway siding heard a rushing roar overhead, followed by a heavy thud as something buried itself in a nearby embankment.

Not quite true. 1-The brilliant @classicsforall has been teaching Greek in quite a few state schools thanks partly to the Leventis Foundation. 2-ab initio students taught by the active method learn very good Greek. One of mine got a Double First last year. 3-a handful of excellent linguists learn to write Greek verse (from me or Public Orator Jonathan Katz. Something few students ever did (well) in the past 50 years.
