@paulbmeyers Loved the challenges, the professional relationships, building something newer and better as a Supt and Principal. But teaching offered some great rewards and fun before they had a microscope put on it by people who didn't know education.

@stuartpackard I, too, began as a sixth grade teacher, but in 1984. I spent ten years as a teacher and often feel they were my best years in education.

I retired one year ago after 35 years in education. This past week I received a message from a student I had 34 years ago. Her son is in 6th grade. She hopes her son's 6th grade is as good as hers. You may never know your impact, then it may take 34 years. Respect our educators.

The great majority of those are rural and should not be an after thought in many areas of the state's decision making. @ericbonniksen
