@statsowar Have to think it'll end up like basketball, where certain programs are not satisfied with or second round exits and move on if a coach can't get into the sweet 16.

@TrungTPhan FWIW, 250K is a little rich for starting stud fee. You usually only see stud fees get that high once the offspring start winning as well. The 2023 Derby winner's fee is down to only 15K at this time.

Economics of Kentucky Derby winner is next level: “Top stallions then breed 100-200x per year, turning a single elite horse into a multi-million dollar annual revenue stream.” Breeders cap supply and ensure pricing power through a rule that someone has to witness natural mating.

Golden Tempo took home $3.1 million at the Kentucky Derby. • 10% to jockey ($310,000) • 10% to trainer ($310,000) • 80% to owners ($2.48 million) But after accounting for stud fees, Golden Tempo is likely now worth more than $25 million. READ: huddleup.substack.com/p/the-stud-fee…

@CDHenry_PA @MattOsterndorf Any push to start with a pre-school/subsidized childcare for members? The big Baptist church here went that route instead of going full into a school.

Scratching “Great White” and letting a female trainer win for the first time. Has the Derby gone fully woke? More and more people are asking the question.

@jbillinson OK, yet every single one of the marathoners in the top 50 who are from higher-altitude areas has ancestry in East Africa. There are none from the Andes, Rockies, Alps, Himalayas, Urals, Altai, Zagros...

Regular reminder that: 1) Farm subsidies are America's largest corporate welfare program. 2) Most farm subsidies go to households with incomes over $200,000, and a quarter to those earning over $400,000. 3) The farm economy does very well. 4) This is central-planning socialism.

@razibkhan Mainline Prots problem is that it was too successful in convincing the populace to adopt its moral values and made actual belief not important to its mission. Left no reason to attend church.

@deacondje @dannybarrand_ Swinging that much at in the zone pitches is still not good. It shows he's looking to swing too much generally and is not seeing the ball well. The best hitters have z-swing% closer to 40%.

@ipatrol6010 @SpaceMan0313 @_CM_67_ The events that are big enough to sell more than 30K tickets are usually big enough to sell 150K and so they sell out, but there aren’t enough of them still to justify gutting an NFL stadium in say, Manhattan. Stadiums will hold as many concerts as they can since they make money.

@will_Read7 @SpaceMan0313 @_CM_67_ I constantly see events that sell out fast and have insane scalper prices. A bigger stadium would make concerts more affordable.

@ipatrol6010 @SpaceMan0313 @_CM_67_ I’m including the 3-5 concerts that happen a year in my 15 uses! Not that may acts that would prefer to use a 80k+ seat stadium with all the associated costs though. NFL stadiums are too big for most concerts.
