@embasic Imo we need to do the 6 year combined undergrad + med school stuff. Getting to residency sooner but making the info more relevant from the start. The issue w this model though is that you have to know pretty early on whether or not you want to do med school.

@embasic Also a lot of college requirements (organic chemistry?) and the need for performative “research”.

@embasic TBH you would just axe college and make medical school 5-6 years out of high school.

@embasic Broadly, I think it would be much more beneficial for the vast majority of docs (& students) to replace how much histopathology we learn with learning radiology instead. That already cuts out a significant chunk of material

@embasic The base education could be 2 years easily. I'm an optometrist and the 1/2 year of color vision and 1/2 year of visual phenomena was completely worthless (among others)

@embasic What? I use embryology basically every shift. I think the challenging is knowing which bits to cut before you know your specialty.

@embasic Affirmative action and woke politics have ruined medicine and those people who have benefited from those gross policies can never be fired, reprimanded or punished. They are the oppressors now, worse than the old oppressors. See women in surgery.

@embasic You could integrate much of this with undergrad. You don’t need all the science. Organic chemistry calculus and physics have no place in a medical curriculum.
