The reason why some, if not many, within the Manchester United hierarchy believe Mateus Fernandes would be a better deal than Elliot Anderson, aside from the fact that he has a higher ceiling than Anderson. Elliot Anderson Age: 24 Expected wages: £150k–£200k per week Transfer fee: £120m–£130m total package There is a risk he could reject the move even if an agreement is reached with Nottingham Forest, similar to the Frenkie de Jong situation a few years ago. Mateus Fernandes Age: 22 Expected wages: £100k–£110k per week Transfer fee: £65m–£80m total package Has given Manchester United full priority and he has turned down both Arsenal & Real Madrid personally. When you factor in age, wages, transfer fee, and the player’s willingness to join, it’s easier to decide as both players are not world class YET.

We dont have a good enough team yet to spend that much on 1 player. Build the squad up and when we need that type player we spend the money. Furthermore, Anderson is that good.
