HOW I AVOIDED A LIFE- CHANGING TRAP
Back in 2010, my mother had a close friend who had a daughter around my age. We grew up together, played together… you know, childhood friendship.
At that time, I was learning a trade (2008–2010), so I usually had small money on me. I would buy her little things, and we were very close.
As we got older, our “child’s play” started changing. One day, things crossed a line—I touched her in a way I shouldn’t have. Looking back now, I know that was wrong.
Not long after, she tried to lure me into her room. But I refused. I had already made a personal decision not to get involved in anything like that until marriage.
Then something unexpected happened.
I mistakenly left my phone (a Nokia N90 back then) in her mother’s shop, which was part of their house. Later, it went missing. Someone told me who took it, so I went there and confronted them. Eventually, the phone was found.
I thought the issue was over.
But just a few hours later, police showed up at my house. I was arrested. They claimed I had caused trouble in that house. The same girl I had been close to? She was nowhere to be found.
I was locked up… and she never showed up.
Months later, I heard she had given birth.
That’s when everything started to make sense. I realized the situation I avoided might have been something much bigger—and dangerous—for my future.
Life taught me a hard lesson that year.
Be careful who you trust.
Set boundaries early.
And never ignore your instincts.
One wrong step can change your whole life.
