Equatorial Guinea’s Government Resign From Office After Failing To Meet Targets
The government of Equatorial Guinea has resigned after failing to meet its performance targets, Vice President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue announced on Tuesday.
Mangue, who is also the son of President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, said the cabinet stepped down after achieving “barely 10 percent” of its goals.
“The rule is simple: public responsibility has to come with results,” he said, adding that despite the significant human, material and financial resources provided by the state, the level of execution was “clearly insufficient in relation to the expectations and commitments undertaken.”
Although the vice president did not disclose the specific targets, the ruling Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea said President Mbasogo was dissatisfied with the outgoing administration’s performance.
The government, led by Prime Minister Manuel Osa Nsue Nsua and appointed in 2024, had been tasked with implementing economic reforms aimed at improving living conditions, particularly for poorer citizens.
However, the country’s economy has continued to struggle due to declining oil production, reduced investment and external economic shocks. Equatorial Guinea remains heavily dependent on petroleum, with oil and gas accounting for most of its export earnings and government revenue.
President Mbasogo, who has ruled since 1979 and is the world’s longest-serving leader, also criticised the government for failing to diversify the economy, particularly in agriculture, which could help reduce dependence on imported goods.
A new government is expected to be appointed in the coming days.

If Tinubu Govt Claims It Cannot Buy Weapons To Protect Nigerians Due To Global Conflicts, It Should Also Explain How Terrorists Smuggle Sophisticated Weapons Into Nigeria — General Somto parallelfactsnews.com/tinubu-govt-cl…
A Rtd General died in terrorists cacaptivity, and the government is telling us he died of diabsetes and high blood pressure.
Is the government trying to exonerate the terrorists? Why are you telling Nigerians he died of natural causes?
The terrorists killed the General. This is the truth. He died as a result of the horrible condition of where he was held captive. The government keep pampering the terrorists but yet pretending they are fighting them.
@yabaleftonline So, who wants to marry you should see who? And when can he see the person to kick start the marriage process? Abi you want evidence of belle first?
“I can't marry a Nigerian. The last Nigerian I dated was already asking me when he could meet my dad. I don’t even think they actually like me.”

Troops Rescue Wife of Retired General Rabe Abubakar in Katsina, Intensify Offensive Against Bandits
Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have rescued Mrs. Abubakar, wife of retired Maj.-Gen. Rabe Abubakar, following a shootout with armed bandits in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Military sources exclusively told Zagazola that the operation, conducted under Operation CLEAN SWEEP III, followed intelligence-led offensives launched in Matazu and adjoining communities after the abduction incident involving the retired senior officer and his family.
According to the sources, troops made contact with the bandits at Tunga village during a search-and-rescue operation, forcing the armed group to flee after coming under heavy military pressure.
“The bandits shot her and fled when we made contact at Tunga village. We have rescued Mrs. Abubakar. She is bleeding, we have given her first aid and are moving her for urgent medical attention,” a military source said.
The source confirmed that the rescued victim was immediately stabilised by troops on the ground before being evacuated to a medical facility for further treatment.
Military authorities said follow-up operations have been intensified in the area, with troops sustaining a coordinated pursuit of fleeing bandits and suspected kingpins believed to be responsible for the attack and earlier abduction.
They added that the ongoing clearance operation under Operation CLEAN SWEEP III will continued until all criminal hideouts are dismantled.
Security sources assured that the military remains committed to tracking down those responsible and ensuring they are brought to justice.
