I pinch myself, but it stays unreal... 2 years ago we cobbled up something in desperation, and now we get to be one of the AViDD Centers! @XChem_DLS is deep in the mix: new methods, piles of open data. All groups are recruiting, check asapdiscovery.org/jobs/, or get in touch.

We’ve been silent for a while. Sorry about that. However, we have some very exciting news and we’ll dovetail that with a quick status update… Today, members of COVID Moonshot have successfully secured an NIH grant with initial funding of $68M to help prevent pandemics!

I cry for England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿—#BA2 hospitalizations have now exceeded old #Omicron’s peak—which were **merely 3 months ago**. So much for stupid mass infection natural herd strategy. This is @borisjohnson & @sajidjavid’s horrible British 🇬🇧 exceptionalism. HT @Antonio_Caramia #COVID19

Reinfection data! Study tracking >300k people found reinfections were rare (<500/month) until Nov '21, but increased to >4500/month in Jan '22. 19% of 1st infections, 17% of 2nd, & 25.9% of 3rd were hospitalized. (But only PCR, no home tests counted). medrxiv.org/content/10.110… 1/

My friends and colleagues @EnamineLtd in Kyiv are outstanding members of the @covid_moonshot team. They are part of our effort to deliver safe, effective, generic anti-virals to treat COVID-19 globally, but their safety, that of their families & all Ukrainians matters more.

Online Today! Looking beyond the blood...our review of mucosal immune responses in COVID19. Already out of date because it was submitted in Nov, but it's a living review! We will be updating as the field develops. academic.oup.com/ooim/advance-a…

Today we're delighted to share a significant milestone in Moonshot’s journey towards an open-science COVID antiviral: We have identified compounds meeting our criteria for progression to preclinical evaluation!

A core principle behind COVID Moonshot is that an open-science approach will accelerate antiviral discovery. With this weekend's release of a new preprint from @SHIONOGI_JP describing an extraordinary new noncovalent oral antiviral, this hypothesis has been validated!

Breaking News: Pfizer said its pill to treat Covid-19 had been found to be highly effective at preventing severe illness among at-risk people. It appears to be more effective than a similar offering from Merck, which is awaiting U.S. authorization. nyti.ms/2YhCyGE
