Succession planning is one of the most important decisions a business owner will make, yet many leave it too late. CFIB, in collaboration with People Corporation, launched Succession Start to help you understand your options and plan your transition with confidence. Whether you are considering passing the business to family, a management buyout, or a third-party sale, starting early gives you more control and protects the value you have built. Our government is reducing red tape to grow the Nova Scotia economy, and to deliver health care and housing faster. We’ve all experienced red tape. It’s a thorn in the side of efficiency. Red tape is the accumulation of small barriers or pain points which, left unaddressed, constrain economic growth, resilience, innovation, and efficient service. In a time of global economic uncertainty building a stronger, more resilient Nova Scotia means making it easier for businesses and residents of Nova Scotia to get things done while protecting health, safety, and the environment. We can and must do both. The @TimHoustonNS government is making services faster and more efficient and saving Nova Scotians time and money by eliminating unnecessary permits, improving permits that are required, and cutting red tape. Nova Scotia is a recognized leader in red tape reduction. The Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) has awarded a grade of A (tied for second with Ontario) in the recent 2025 CFIB red tape report card. Cutting red tape does not mean cutting corners. Rather, it’s about removing the unnecessary so that we can focus on the essential. Now that’s service efficiency.

🔎 CFIB’s 2026 Paperweight Awards are here, and this year’s “winner” is the CBSA’s CARM system! CARM has become a major source of #RedTape for small businesses, complicating trade, adding new admin burdens, and disrupting day-to-day operations instead of simplifying imports. We’re also highlighting other red tape offenders: Quebec’s Bill 29 supply chain liability chaos, and Vancouver’s fireplace fines, all adding confusion and unnecessary costs for entrepreneurs. 🔗 Find out more: hubs.li/Q040jsSh0 #RedTapeAwarenessWeek #RedTapeReduction #RTAW
