We’re the most powerful nation in the world both militarily and economically. We exercise power over the rest of the world out of proportion to its population. It’s at the cutting edge of research in science, engineering and medicine. We do not need to worry about “greatness,” which is already assured, and improve the quality of life for all of its citizens: to promote the general welfare, as the Constitution indicates. It is absurd that a nation as rich and powerful as the United States does not also have the highest standard of living, sensible gun control, equal rights for all, including codifying Roe vs. Wade, voting rights, standard of health care delivery, standard of public education, standard of law enforcement and of justice, support Ukraine, and so on as other, smaller, poorer nations. We need to improve all these things to the point where they properly reflect the United States’ wealth and power. With President Biden at the helm, and a majority Senate and House, we can accomplish so much. Just imagine how much we can get done with 4 more years under President Biden and a Congress that will work with him.
