I'm taking @X seriously now.
Before, I'll admit I was slacking.
But the indie hacker and build in public communities here are too strong to ignore.
Here's what seems to be working now that I'm back:
(1) Have fun. If you treat posting like a job it's hard to think of things to say. If you treat it like you're just chatting at a bar it's much easier to have genuine interactions.
(2) Respond to everyone. New account, old account, no followers, huge followers- doesn't matter. You never know who you'll click with and most people are pretty friendly.
(3) Don't be afraid to reach out. There are a lot of people in the #connect side of things looking to hear about what you're working on. Its never to early to start talking about it, and if you're not ready yet you can always just say Hey 👋
(4) If someone asks for your opinion or feedback on their work, give them the same time and attention youd like them to give you. Small acts of kindness between community members here really compound so make sure to do your part!
(5) Start early! You'll need to cringepost like this to algomaxx so make sure you do it early enough where you can delete this garbage before your launch
What am I missing? Drop your best tips and what you're doing in the comments, or just say Hi if you want to connect
