I think Mushoku Tensei has had a pretty morbid take on reincarnation by exploring the idea of someone's life suddenly becoming better if circumstances were different. Rudy is dangerously close to repeating his past life and going down the same route, and that's really fucked up.

It was like resuming a save file that was left paused for like, an entire decade.
But this time, Rudy is choosing to live seriously. He won't recluse back into his shell, and he'll grow up into an adult.
That's my overall take on where Mushoku Tensei wants to take his journey.

Rudy reincarnating was basically a major progression to Rudy's emotional age and experience. It shows with how Rudy acts child-like to the people around him, despite being an adult in his past life.
He's such a manchild that he's effectively perfect at just being a child again.

From what I've seen, Rudy is the perfect case of "Age ≠ Experience".
It's pretty clear that Rudy has been either neglected by his folks, and didn't have a stable support system whatsoever during his freshman year of high school.
Or has given up entirely after that.

I'm starting to see that Rudy's venting method is inherently hurting other people physically, which is pretty unhealthy.

Yeah, The Beginning Of The End really was a hard paste from Mushoku Tensei. I can see why it was compared a lot when I first read the manhwa. This is literally the same as Arthur when he went to his little school.

@Kachigg52211607 I'm not saying Rudeus is inherently a violent person. It's just that when he reaches a critical point, he tends to relieve his stress through being physically violent as we've seen.
It's a pretty neat trait, and contrasts Subaru's self-infliction.

There's also Rudy just being a lot more messy character than Arthur, so you can do a lot with him.
Mushoku Tensei doesn't hesitate to soften the blow on some really ugly factors like TBATE would.
I can't remember much of Arthur's traits because he feels really sanitized.

I think people just like TBATE a lot more because its basically MT but filtered all around. So it's less controversial and easy to swallow nowadays. But it basically comes off as an average reincarnation manhwa since it doesn't offer much originality, and comes off as generic.
