COVID cases are down in NYS but I still don’t understand why everyone seems to be super adamant about racing the very few tris that are being held. I miss racing but this seems really unnecessary and I feel ‘meh’ about it. Is that just me?

@stevielynlyn Apologies, you're right, I didn't mean for that to be so negative. My main issue is there seems to be a lot of people taking offense to outside sport participation, and there's really very little evidence to support any theories that it's a major concern.

@DHansenTri i wouldn’t consider it fair to compare grocery store to racing AT ALL. Food is a necessity and not everyone can afford delivery, so that just screams privilege. As for the group swims— look at the science. You don’t fling particles around swimming like you do on a bike or run

@stevielynlyn Hmmm. Interested to see your science about all the triathlon, running, biking research that's been done. It's all relative. Just imagining 100 people gathering on a beach to do a swim vs a 100 people out riding bikes.

@stevielynlyn And personally I see racing a triathlon being less likely as a source of infection than say, an indoor grocery store, and certainly not more so than say an organized group swim at Canadaigua Lake.

@DHansenTri Go race a strava segment or something to fill the void. No need to unnecessarily put a bunch of people together with an activity that isn’t like, sitting in a lawn chair 6 feet away.

@DHansenTri I haven’t hugged people since March because I’m high risk. I’d like to see my extended family this year. I know not everyone has to live like this but like, if we can not race and crush this thing 100% then we can ALL live our lives again.
